sushi. I am quite a picky eater and I take my raw fish consumption very seriously. Sushi Ota was the best sushi dining experience I had outside of Asia. The quality of the fish is top notch and they have a very extensive selection including some uncommon fish and cut like golden eye snapper and kanpachi. Our server recommended the white board special Sashimi Ota and it was indeed an excellent choice. It came with lobster, chu toro, kanpachi, awabi, uni, hamachi, hirame and mirugai - all higher priced fish and none of those cheaper filler items you would normally find at other restaurants. We added extra order of O toro sashimi (I just can't resist) and couple nirigi. They were simply exquisite. Oh yes, they all came with real washibi. What really swiped me off my feet were their hot food and maki rolls. Their hot appetizers were just as amazing as the sushi. The miso seabass was easily one of the best I have had. The maki rolls did not seem very exciting from the description on the menu but I was very delighted when they were served. Everything from the sauce, garnish to presentation were perfect. They looked beautiful and the balance between the various ingredients were excellent. Too many good dishes to mention. I love every single thing I tried at Sushi Ota. (and I have ordered a lot) If I live in San Diego this will be the only sushi restaurant I dine at. I know I will eat here every time I visit San Diego and I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. This is a place you can safely splurge.

Rocky's. Still in a sweaty sports bra and limping a little, a cold beer and a burger (with no option other than cheese or no cheese) was just what I needed. That is the exact reason to go to Rocky's- burgers, beer, and maybe a game. Don't go bringing any high maintanance friends because the bartenders will likely send them back home on a T.

Pescadero!" This quaint fish market doesn't come with any bells or whistles, it's a simple place with a few tables and damn good seafood. The fish tacos are always great, and the sandwiches are great for beach picnics.

and the food is wonderful! As shown in the picture, the Marine Room has floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook La Jolla Bay. It is not unusual for a kayaker to float on or to catch a glimpse of a playful sea lion. Chef Bernard is a bit of a local legend, creative, hilarious and very French. One of THE best times to come is during their High Tide Dinners or High Tide Brunch. These you need to book beforehand. During high tide, the waves literally crash up on the windows and are quite spectacular. The brunch is especially amazing with everything from seafood, updated brunch foods, omelet station, desserts, breads, hot foods, etc. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it for the all around experience.

with consistently exceptional service, elegant atmosphere, and the best steaks in San Diego, hands down. I don't mind paying a lot for a meal when the value is there, and Donovans does not disappoint. I ALWAYS order the filet and have not even once been disappointed. The spinach salad is also a favorite, but pace yourself. The appetizers, bread and drinks are so enticing that I'm usually full before I even order my entree.

light filtering in through tall windows (except at night, when the chandeliers glow warmly), Tuscany is a lovely dining experience. The servers are professional and authentic - ours was from Italy and kept the experience alive with Italian words and true gentleman-like manners (he placed my napkin on my lap.) Strikingly, the bar area is an almost glaring contrast to the rest of the restaurant - with large TV screens showing live sports and a clashing modern feel; I much preferred the quiet corners with a glass of red wine and a heaping plate of delicious chicken parmigiana.

place that doesn't have a great view! It is not cheap, but the food, service, and atmosphere are excellent! They specialize in seafood, but they have steaks and other American faire. I do occasionally eat dinner here, but I regularly go for drinks, coffee, and dessert. They have a great Hula Pie ice cream dessert. You just have to try it! Jake's is crazy busy during the Race Track season from mid-July through Labor Day. I'd suggest avoiding the weekends during this time or eat late/early.

café dining in France. With multiple locations across the californian Coast, French food and pastries are never too far away. Champagne Bakery offers a variety of quality French dishes and baked goods for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert! They also offer delivery for your busy schedule and catering for your bigger events. Don;t leaver without trying a sandwich on their homemade bread or a croissant, and you won't be able to choose just one pastry dessert from their dessert case. They are all delicious!

there is always a line out the door. Only open Monday through Saturday 9-3. The rice and beans are to die for and the tacos are some of the best. If you are looking for fancy decor, sour cream and bunch of lettuce on your food go some place else. The food here is authentic and does not need any window dressing to make it taste better.

have outdoors upstairs & down stairs eating area that faces the marina...perfect on a nice sunny day. =) Clam Chowder - a bit bland & didn't have a thick consistency as I thought it would. I liked the one at Blue Water Grill better. 7pts Got the Crab sandwich - so fresh & yummy but a bit on the bland side so it's perfect with the tartar / hot sauce that they have on hand there at the small sauce station which they have outside. 9 pts Scallop sandwich was lightly battered & fried; it tasted just ok; not as good as I expected it to be...thought they would be bigger pieces. 6 pts Definitely coming back here when I'm down in SD to try the jumbo shrimp cocktail, fish tacos, Crab salad. I really don't like the way the ordering process is; there's no real line where you can order from. You just walk up to the counter & look for an employee & order. They take your order & give you a # & you wait for your # to be called. Food: A Decor: B+ Ambiance: B+ (chill relaxed) Overall, I believe that Blue Water Grill beats this place in terms of taste.
