An above average mid-range hotel with an attached building holding some lovely suites, the Azade exudes an air of calm and tranquillity – an impressive feat in a city like Istanbul. The two parts of the hotel (hotel and suites) are set around a nice courtyard and there’s ample comfortable seating in both the shared areas and the rooms. As well as this, the hotel offers a Turkish bath, sauna and massage. The breakfast terrace has views of the blue sea on one side and the Blue Mosque on the other, and the view gives you an indication of how close to the sights Azade Hotel is. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and all the other sights of historical Istanbul are within a short walk.Recommended for:

Azade is located on a cosy avenue, in a district wrapped in the aura of historic Istanbul and Byzantium around the Hippodrome, and full of tourist attractions, restaurants, pubs and hotels. The building is a modernized Istanbul mansion so there is this wow factor of architecture and style. It is next to a wonderful Turkish bath (hamam); you can tick this off your list without being bothered to walk and pay extra for the same experience in Sultanahmet. The rooms are simply decorated and satisfying. The menus are, though not extensive, pretty good and the staff is distinctively polite.
After a stay, you might find this part of the Old Peninsula to be much more pleasant than let’s say Gülhane or Hagia Sophia, particularly for its blending elegance and attraction. Azade fits into this picture perfectly.Recommended for:

What more could I possibly ask for – this hotel has it all and does it with style and class. It’s located at a street end, so you don’t have traffic and tourists passing at all hours, but it’s close to all the sights you could want to see, and the shoreline is just a short walk away. Forget going to an offsite hamam – they have a large one here with a sauna as well…perfect for just before dropping into bed at night after a long day of sightseeing. They have an extensive hot/cold buffet, served on the rooftop terrace, as you gaze out at the sea or the Blue Mosque. The room is luxuriously appointed, comfortable with all the amenities, a tub, safe and minibar. Don’t miss the cozy afternoon tea and snacks served in the lobby lounge.Recommended for:

The location- within walking distance of most of the big attractions and so many excellent restaurants- was probably the best thing but there were plenty of other things I loved about this hotel inside an old Ottoman mansion. The included breakfast was awesome, the rooms were not exactly spectacular but they were still very nice. Also, there is a Turkish bath right inside the hotel which was the BEST thing after a long flight.Recommended for:

The Best Western Obelisk is a nice hotel really close to all of Istanbul's main historical attractions. The building was converted from an old Ottoman house into a hotel and maintains the same style of the 19th century mansion. The lobby is nicely decorated with painted ceilings and comfortable couches to lounge on. The hotel, overall, has an elegant feel. The rooms while somewhat basic, are clean and tidy. One of my favorite aspects of the room was the tempurpedic bed! I could just imagine being curled up on it after running around Istanbul all day! The location of the hotel is perfect! It is located on a quiet street, but still close to all of the action of Sultanahmet.Recommended for:
