Baden Baden, meaning Bathing is a spa town built on thermal springs at the edge of the Black Forest. My friend and I rode with another event organiser colleague in the Wellness Industry from Wiesbaden to Baden Baden. We had to see what the city has to offer and it surely was all about health and wellness. More than that, I loved the open spaces, greenery and beautiful parks of the city. Its a fairly compace farm and we just walked to the Old Town from our luxury hotel.

I loved Baden-Baden because of the hot springs/cold springs/spas that are a huge part of the Baden-Baden experience. From a rushing river that pushes one along, to an ice-cold waterfall, Baden-Baden's springs offer a multitude of ways to have fun in the water. Baden-Baden is also home to casinos and is very near to the former house of Brahms, which is very interesting to visit.

Spent a weekend here with a boyfriend back in February 2009. The bathing is terrific, the scenery is beautiful, and the food is decent. Would go back, but have to admit in retrospect it is aimed more at fifty-somethings than thirty-somethings.

The Upper Rhine Valley (which actually encompasses three countries: France, Germany and Switzerland), is without a doubt one of the most charming areas of Europe to explore. The spa town of Baden-Baden is a great stop on any route, but for more detailed info about routes through the Germanic portion of the valley, go to: www.upperrhinevalley.com

It 'was my first trip to Germany, which I've never been particularly attracted to, but after Baden Baden has become one of my top destinations.
From the small airport, you arrive in Baden Baden on the bus, even after twenty minute ride.
Passing through woods and small clusters, which give some clues about how life takes place daily.
First, the care of people: there is no trace of signs of neglect or disrespect (for comparison, I had to struggle hard to find graffiti on the walls of houses, or paper and bottles thrown somewhere).
Then have a beautiful bike path and a significant discipline behind the wheel.
These things I have seemed "out of the ordinary" for the simple fact that a couple of years I live in Rome for work.
Once in Baden Baden, the bus stops in the city's central square, and Leopoldsplatz, and a short walk from here, I reach for my accommodation.
The evening is devoted to a tour of the city center, in particular Augustaplatz visit the fountain and the main course.
For dinner, I decide to eat in a very romantic place, all lit with a terrace that makes Christmas so much, the Gasthaus Lowenbrau.
Plus a nice atmosphere, the restaurant offers a good regional cuisine and Bavarian. As well as a great beer ...
The next day I devoted to the discovery of the Black Forest, a stroll in the woods around Lake Mummelsee.
Describing the beauty of the place is impossible, because it is a small lake formed by the melting of some glaciers, surrounded by pine trees, with some refreshment and a nice dock to sit and enjoy the view.
Baden Baden is definitely more famous as a spa town than anything else, where should go especially in winter when bathing outdoors is truly a unique experience.
For breakfast, lunch fundamental for me, I highly recommend the cafe-bakery overlooking the Leopoldsplatz. Simply amazing!
You can spend the evening with a stroll around the river Oos, Theatre and the Casino, which, however, recommend you visit during the day, because they are near a beautiful park.
