This bar shoots rainbows out of every window, blinding passers-by with its fabulousness. As the go-to gay bar in The Castro, serving up cheap drinks, a varied crowd, and the thumpa-thumpa of the most saccharine-sweet bubble-gum pop music (and video), Badlands isn't to be missed for a fun night out, if that's what you're looking for. It's packed on the weekends, but isn't empty any night of the week-- full of both locals and tourists alike.
Get down and dirty on the dance floor or sit in the front room and attempt to have a conversation (the incredibly loud music can make this a challenge). However you decide to spend your night here, don't expect to leave ungroped. All are welcome: straight, gay, in-between (or not)-- just bring your dancing shoes and a positive attitude.Recommended for:

The Badlands is the closest thing there is in SF to a destination gay club. This is the club that tourists come to and locals come to to pick up tourists.
And the quality of the evening can vary drastically from one event to the next. Any night you show up could be the night of your life or the night you remember for almost backhanding a bitch! It's all possible.
You will find cheap drinks, and really, REALLY gay music. They are not catering to people who are connoisseurs of anything but debauchery, and they serve it up cheaper than anyone around them.
Chances are, if you're coming to the Castro, you'll find your way inside.Recommended for:
