Brownies, cupcakes, coffee. Rivals Georgetown Cupcakes in quality and style. Neat little place to hang out. I wish I had all the time in the world to just chill and read books in a city like this.Recommended for:

As its name suggests, this Georgetown institution takes coffee as seriously as its homespun baked goods. Baristas train for months, and the concrete coffee bar serves only the best roasters in the country (Stumptown, Intelligentsia). Cupcakes are playfully displayed in upside-down coffee beakers, and decadent flavors include hazelnut ganache–topped vanilla cake with a dulce de leche center. Other coffee-pairing options range from breakfast breads to strawberry pistachio pie.
Must-Try Item: The Bee Sting, a shortbread bar with a honey and sliced almond topping, is the perfect balance of salty and sweet.Recommended for:

I really like their baked goods. I prefer the brownies and cookies to the cupcakes, but that is just me. Everything is displayed in a way that will make you want to buy it all. You can grab a cookie, cup of coffee and take a seat. It is a much more relaxing environment than some other bakeries in the area.

Avoid the lines at Georgetown cupcake and head toward the waterfront. Oh, wait...you'll often find shorter lines outside of Baked & Wired too. They sell some of the better coffee in DC, so waltz right past the lines to the right and grab yourself a cup. In addition, on that side of the store you'll find non-cupcake baked goods. I love the pumpkin ginger bread, myself.
Take your food and drink and head out to a relaxing spot along the C&O Canal for some of the best (and most relaxing) that Georgetown has to offer.
