This place is a bit secluded I would have to say. It's located on a part of Newport beach that is a bit of a hassle to get to because it is pretty much on its own island. They do have nice views though, and the water is pretty clean and blue. However, I thought there would be a lot more rides and fun arcade games to play.

However, it is pretty relaxing. Reminds me a bit of San Diego, but not as much activities as Santa Monica Pier.

FYI, the meters only takes quarters or dollar coins. I was putting in dimes and the timer did not go up. Wasted a lot of spare change before I realized it wasn't working!

Well... I remember this place from when I was a kid and am now taking my daughter here. The rides are the same and a blast for children without a doubt. The ferris wheel is fun for both young and old. If you want a unique date spot, bring a woman here for a ride on the ferris wheel and watch her eyes light up. Follow it up by a walk over to the pier or dinner in one of the many little restaurants (beachy or nicer, casual or fancy).

The arcades are great, the candy store tasty, the prices touristy (well come on now it is a tourist trap), and the vibe is a fun/frivolous/exciting/etc.

It is hard to have a bad time when you here to play, smile, laugh, and have fun. Since that is what 99.9% of the others are there for as well.

    Reasons why its not a more highly rated place;

1 the bathrooms are beyond nasty
    2 parking is a nightmare
3 pricing is a bit to touristy (err progressive shall we say)
4 the bumper cars are not always working
    5 its too small
6 it needs to be cleaned better and/or a new coat of paint on a number of buildings (this needs to happen regularly as they are by the ocean)

None the less, my daughter and I still love to go here and enjoy it greatly everytime we do...

With a ferris wheel, bungee jumping, an arcade filled with classic games like skeeball, and all the ice cream a kid could ask for, the Balboa Fun Zone is a child's playground. Be warned, though: this IS Newport Beach, and prices are a bit steep. And for adults, the bar/restaurant scene may be the best part about this area.

If you have kids, for sure a fun place to come. There's a small area with boardwalk games and carnival rides and has that old-timey boardwalk feel. It's nice to stroll around, but if you are an adult there is probably not a lot to do... though you should definitely grab a Balboa bar!

What a fun old amusement park! We enjoyed the bumper cars, bungee jumping, and ferris wheel. It's a short walk over to the beach area from here as well.
This place was good for maybe 2 hours max with the kids. A bit kitchy but amusing nonetheless.

Strolling around Balboa Island with a frozen chocolate banana was one of my favorite childhood memories.

Loud and family friendly. Also good for a teenage date night. There are lots of skeeball options, video games and a Ferris Wheel. You can combine it with a trip to the Balboa Pier.

One of the best and most historical arcades in OC. Balboa Fun Zone over the years has undergone many changes but it still remains a staple on Balboa Peninsula and in OC as well. Though we shall always miss the haunted house ride that as a child made us terrified and the bumper cars, the arcade, ferris wheel and the snacks that surround both will always be the same and forever keep us a child at heart.

This is my go to spot when entertaining my 8 year old daughter Marley. She can go on the Ferris wheel, play on the bungee bounce kid slingshot thingy, eat pizza and ice cream, play arcade games, win tickets, buy goofy little toys with her tickets......all the while I am within view sitting on a dock fishing for halibut in the harbor. I love this place.

Take the ferry and spend an hour or two at Balboa Fun Zone. The ferris wheel is fun and lets you see the majority of Balboa (which isn't all that hard). I also really like going into the crappy haunted house. It's quirky and fun for all.

You can catch boat tours of the bay here. Shops along the bay, some food too.

Description

Though its glory days are long gone, this Newport Beach amusement park still oozes with nostalgia and a bit of romance. It’s the kind of place where you let your inner child come out to play. Ride the Ferris wheel or try your hand at skee-ball, chow down on popcorn and saltwater taffy, or win a plush doll at one of the fair games.
