Balboa Park is a great spot for families and dates! There are a number of museums (there's at least 1 with free admission, the others have a fee) and the gardens and fountains are beautiful. I love the intricate architecture of the outside of the buildings. This is a great spot to spend a few hours walking around and exploring the area. In the summer, you're bound to come across a few weddings.
On Sundays, the UN International Houses are open for viewing. Next time I'm in SD, hopefully I'll be able to go. The Puerto Rico house had a cooking class in progress when my family was here on Saturday; the others were closed.
There's free parking, but you may find yourself circling around mid-day.Recommended for:

Balboa Park is a giant and awesome park in the middle of San Diego. There's something for everyone here. There's a dog park, several museums, cafes, and lots of area to just relax, have a picnic, or go for a bike ride. It's even pretty to just drive though.Recommended for:

There is so much to see and do in Balboa Park. Go for a walk. Visit a museum (or 2 or 3.....or 4). Look at all the different types of plants. Explore the architecture. Or just relax and do some people watching. You can pretty much do it all in Balboa ParkRecommended for:

There is a big, beautiful park right in the center of the city of San Diego! Everything in the city is somewhat centered around the park (Ex. North Park, South Park). The park is in the center of all the neighborhoods of the city.Recommended for:

So much to see and do.Stroll through the park or visit the museums , Balboa Park is a must see . Every time I visit Balboa Park I am in awe of the architecture, landscaping and the museums. On the weekend there is always something going on. This is a place the entire family will enjoy. Don't miss it when visiting San Diego. Plus it is maybe 15 minutes from Th Seamore Cottage.Recommended for:

This a great place to pass time in San Diego. There is so much to do here. There are museums, international houses, nature walks, local vendors selling arts and crafts, a velodrome to name but a few. December nights is great a great event as all of the museums are free.Recommended for:

This is one of the best places to visit in America... period. It reminds me of a lesser version of the Smithsonian area in DC. There are several museums, restaurants, exhibits, outdoor music, children's activities, and spectacular views. Great place to spend the day. Parking is free and some of the museums and exhibits are too. Worth the visit and give yourself a couple of days to enjoy it.Recommended for:
