Of all the tourist centers in Bali, Ubud is the most traditional Balinese. Located just on one hour drive north of Denpasar and nestled between beautiful rice terraces this place has become the mecca for the more spiritual tourists to Bali. I love the peace and serenity around Ubud, downtown Ubud is a slightly different story. Here you can fill ...

Seminyak is a great alternative to Kuta if you're looking for a less backpacky, more family friendly or upscale experience. Jalan Oberoi (Jalan means road) has a bunch of tasty sit down restaurants that cater to westerners. You can get a high quality Italian meal for around $6 US. We stayed in Kuta and heard accommodation may be a bit ...

A Day in Denpasar: Will Meyrick’s top-five must-try Balinese dishes For a different take on seeing Bali through the eyes of a local, Chef Will Meyrick heads to Denpasar’s humble hawkers and street food stalls, locally known as warung, to indulge in a culinary journey of discovery – a world far away from the romantic resort island’s restaurant terraces and ...

    Nusa Dua

It's wonderfully family friendly with big chain hotels and low tide beaches that are shallow for kids to play in. Nusa Dua is a nice stop on your Bali trip but, please don't spend all of your time here. Make sure you go to Ubud and check out some of the more stunning beaches during your stay.

Bustling and noisy would be the two words I describe this town. Laden with little shops selling all kinds of souvenirs, it also hosts the largest festivals local Balinese celebrate. Plenty of nice hotels and nicer beaches to go to!

As Seminyak gets more crowded, more and more villas and hotels are opening up in Canggu. This is a good option to stay. It is less developed so you can probably find a villa which has both beach access and padi field views (best of both worlds)

    Padang Bai

From what I experienced, this is a place where backpackers briefly stop before going to Lombok or other islands while they're waiting for the boat. However, it has a beautiful scenery with a nice beach. And by all the places I visited in Indonesia, one small restaurang at the very end of the beach had the most delicious gado-gado I've ...

The whole peninsula of far eastern Bali is known as 'Amed' (technically just its easternmost town), and though it's hardly undiscovered territory, it can easily feel like it after the crowds of South Bali and Ubud (and even Padangbai!). With solid diving and snorkeling, and cheap beachfront bungalows spread all along the undeveloped coast, it's more than worth going out ...

Sleepy Sanur is the low-key, family-friendly South-Bali antidote to the drunkenness of Kuta and the upscale gorge of Seminyak. The calm beach is popular with parents with young kids, and with retirees (some with Balinese wives), though people looking for something a bit more happening might consider basing themselves elsewhere.

A must see in Ubud area, after all part of what i came to see in Bali. The rice terraces are trully amazing! Loved to walk on the narrow paths among the fields with this huge green everywhere.

It's one of the less crowded areas in Bali and is worth exploring - where there are plenty of luxurious villas and hotels. It is hilly and the view is stunning.

Everybody has seen the picture of the temples in Bedugul but to go there and see it for real is simply breath taking. The temple is actually located on an island of what is still considered an active volcano. Relax, you're holidaying on the Ring of Fire anyway.
