    Chatuchak Weekend Market

    137 reviews

You can find literally anything for sale here. It is perhaps the craziest of all the flea market/swap meet type of events that I have ever been to.

    Temple of the Reclining Buddha

    96 reviews

You have to see it to believe it! The reclining Buddha is the largest Buddha in Thailand, and certainly the largest I have seen anywhere! It is covered in gold leaf, with eyes and foot soles of mother-of-pearl. The gigantic statue is housed in Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), Bangkok's oldest and largest temple. Wat Pho is filled ...

    Khao San Road

    108 reviews

Perhaps the original but maybe just most famous backpacker ghetto in the world. Chock full of guesthouses, cafes, street food, shopping, western food catering to drunk backpackers. It was/ still is a shopping district for Thais, but it has become overrun with foreigners and now is more famous for the party center of backpackers.

    Siam Paragon

    72 reviews

Uber-luxury-mall at the heart of central Bangkok, Siam Paragon -- with its superb food court, top-floor movie theatre, and ample opportunities for people-watching -- is my favorite place to escape the heat and humidity of a Bangkok afternoon. They have the amazing Kinokuniya bookstore and 9 baht ice-cream on the bottom floor. Enough said.

    MBK Shopping Center

    91 reviews

MBK is the sort of shopping center with lots of tiny stalls all crammed into one place. I don't understand how anyone can really shop here. How do you decide where to buy from when every stall is basically the same? How do you not get totally distracted? It's a little overwhelming.

    Wat Pho

    66 reviews

    Patpong Night Market

    59 reviews

A must visit for everyone travelling to Bangkok. The more humorous side of the seedy part of Bangkok, great for fake shopping and if you really want to see a strip club you can do it safely here. The area around the telephone bar is mostly gay bars and has a really nice part atmosphere

A classic stop for any visitor. The streets are full of Chinese shops and early in the evening plenty of city lights makes this district very nice. Have a dinner (of course) on the street, in order to taste the best mix between Thai and Chinese cuisine.

    Bangkok River

    29 reviews

I love watching the activity on the river. Better yet, I enjoy catching a river express taxi and cruising up and down the river. You can link to the sky train system at some spots which makes getting around quite enjoyable and efficient.

    Erawan Shrine

    20 reviews

Located on a corner of Bangkok's busiest intersections. Local people come here and pray to the Four-Faced Buddha, blessing for their good and prosperity good future. You can too make a wish of anything, but, when it comes true, you'll have to come back the following year to show appreciation.

    Golden Mount

    19 reviews

Not being a huge connoisseur of Thai Buddhist temples, I can't remark on the substance of this place, but I can say its location is fantastic. Bangkok is a pretty flat city, so to be able climb up the only hill for miles around, and have a lovely temple on top from which to admire the's pretty great.
