The Bank is across from the Wells Fargo Bank on Big Basin Road in the sleepy but charming upscale suburb of San Jose, Saratoga. It is on restaurant row, near Plumed Horse and Sent Sovi, amongst many other less refined eateries.
You could call it a Dive bar for this neighborhood, but not as divey as on the Mission in San Francisco, or your local DewDrop In retired folks drinking hole.
The drinks are cheap for this neck of the woods, cash only. They have an antique gold cash register that cannot ring up more than $29 at one time. Bartenders are friendly and pour a solid cocktail.
The clientele is mixed, but mostly 30 - 50 somethings chillaxin. You might be able to get lucky with a few of 30 something ladies who just had a nice meal nearby, if you can interrupt their gossiping girl talk, and haven' been approached by the geezer regulars yet.

I had no idea there was a dive bar like this in Downtown Saratoga. Or a dive bar, period! A-MAZING!
Once inside, I saw what is the epitome of dive bars: dingy, a wall of whiskey figurines that look like kids' dolls, carpet (was it shag?), velvet couches, a jukebox with rockin' classics, and an outdoor "patio" that's just really a blocked off part of the parking lot with a bunch of mis-matched patio chairs.
Our lovely bartender was sweet as pie, and got our group sloshed on car bombs and raspberry lemon drops. Drinks were dirt cheap. I mean, you've got $11 cocktails up on the other end of the street! She put 15 credits in the jukebox, and I seemed to take over the song selections. I remember my guy and I dancing like fools, and him jumping up on a chair and falling when "Footloose" came on.
This seemed to be THE after-work spot for the Mountain Winery chefs, so it was cool to see them there.
I'll be back. On karaoke night. Watch out!
