Some 38 kilometers northeast of the main body of the Angkor complex, this isolated temple might be one you’re tempted to pass up, but don’t even consider it. Though tiny by Angkor standards, the stone-carving at this temple is among the world’s most exquisite. Its name, which translates as ‘the Temple of the Women’, refers in fact to the fineness ...

Despite its name, this family-run place also serves excellent Khmer dishes in a clean, laid back setting off a quiet street. The waiter's recommendation of spring rolls, stir-fried beef (Lork Lak) and fish were, in my opinion, a notch above the offerings on pub street. And it's only a 5-minute taxi ride from the centre of town. Where: Off Street ...Popular withFoodies

We had had a lot of Khmer food by the end of our 6 days in Siem Reap (and loved it, by the way), but we were ready for something else. Bengal Tiger delivered. My husband and I had Indian dishes and our daughters had pizzas. All of the food was very good. This restaurant shares part of it's menu ...Popular withFamilies

This modern restaurant / bar is named after draws on the heritage of its more famous predecessor and Phnom Penh. In contrast to the Phnom Penh icon, this outlet is more modern and I found it more enjoyable. A great spot for drinks.Popular withLuxuryLocalNightlife

There's no better place to indulge your sweet tooth (and your need for air-con!) in Siem Reap, although its sleek, cosmopolitan interiors seem incongruous and extravagant compared to the rest of the dusty, low-key town. That said, there's no denying the pull of the ice cream counter, which tempts with flavours like Four Spice, Banana-galangal and Star Anise. Quite simply, ...Popular withFoodiesBackpackersBudget

My husband and I had the best Amok at this restaurant. We actually commented that it was our favorite meal in all of SE Asia. I would encourage anyone I know to check this place out. It's cute and has fabulous food. The Amok, which we had, takes up to 40 minutes but is well worth the wait. If you ...

Eh. It's not like this is the best night market ever but it does sell all the knick knacks you could ask for. You could bargain all you want here. I actually bargained down a t-shirt to one dollar but I felt bad at cutting the t-shirt's ladies margins that I gave her two. Though, I totally got shanghaied on ...Popular withFoodies

The Angkor Palm is a popular restaurant that serves some great, authentic cambodian dishes. I opted for the combo platter that comprises of 6 dishes including the amok, which is baked fish in a banana leaf. The prices are dirt cheap and they also serve beer and wine at really low prices. The restaurant lacks in ambiance, but the food ...Popular withFoodiesLocal

One of the better tourist restaurants we encountered on the trip. Our order of Khmer Curry was mildly spicy and sweet, chock-full of sweet potato, pumpkin and chicken chunks. In contrast, the seafood soup, with it's lemongrass and galangal soup base, was reminiscent of Thai Tom Yum Soup, while the highly recommended pumpkin cheese bake was a 'interesting' fusion dish. ...Popular withFoodies

If it's Mexican your after, Viva is a good choice. Just off Pub Street, and always busy you will find tacos, nachos and other really good mexican dishes. I highly recommend the pork chimichanga! But if you only have a few days in Cambodia, please try the local food!

A small but clean food stall run by a Cambodian-Chinese family. While our dinner of amok (smiliar to Singaporean otah), stir-fried vegetables and Khmer sweet and sour fish soup was passable, the fish chunks were of the frozen variety and the amok was the wimpy "tourists can't stomach chilli" version. Not quite the homey, local hole-in-the-wall I was hoping for. ...

It was easy to relax amid the elegant, modern-resort interiors of Viroth's, cooled by fans under a traditional thatched roof. Although the food, set off beautifully by celadon ceramic ware, was too mild-tasting for my liking (toned down for the tourist palate), I didn't go there expecting authenticity and was therefore not too disappointed.
