Mendocino Weekend

List editor:

Questions

I'll be in Mendocino at the end of September with some kayaking friends. Can you recommend a restaurant for dinner? One in our party loves beer and good wine.

I'll be in Mendocino for the last weekend in September to do some sea kayaking with friends. If the ocean is too wild, can you recommend a land-based activity? I've been to Mendo a few times, so I'm looking for something out of the ordinary. Thanks!

Other places to eat that we like: In Fort Bragg, Cafe One for breakfast/lunch, Mendo Bistro, and Chapter and Moon in the harbor. In Mendocino, the Moose Cafe is good - recently heard the Cioppino is great. Also love the Ravens at the Stanford Inn - try the Seapalm strudel.

The sand dunes north of town are really cool. Park at Ward Avenue and walk north, or my favorite, park on the highway at Beale Lane, walk down to the end of Beale and onto the dunes.

Awesome place for a walk with beautiful gardens, part manicured, much wild, really nice trails, sheltered from the wind, and great coastal bluff access

Beautiful state park with amazing groves of old growth redwoods. You can camp here, which I would highly recommend, but its also great just to come for a day hike.
