The sand is fake because they put it there only for the 92' world Olympics but other than that you can't go wrong here. Beautiful people, delicious seafood, and warm sun surrounds you in barceloneta beach.

Beautiful that the beach is located next to the city. You can walk out to the mall that is very large on the water. Watch out for people trying to hustle you on the beach if you want peace and quiet at a beach this may not be the beach for you, if you want a massage from a Spanish woman for 3 Euros you have found the right place.

Consistently ranked one of the worlds best urban beaches, and with good reason. The beaches are very lovely, although they are usually pretty crowded.

The beaches of Barcelona are not very impressive (coming from a girl who lives in Hawaii) but the restaurants/lounges along Barceloneta Beach are super trendy and posh. Not really my style but it's the place to be if you want to mingle with the beautiful single people. I enjoyed strolling along the boulevard early evening and getting insanely good mojitos from one of the lounges.

In terms of a hangout spot, yes I loved it. In terms of a clean beach to lay out, not so much!! The tan sand was 50% cigarette ash and smelled like it when lying face down on a towel. Europeans love their smoking on the beach and this is one big smokers haven. It also is a great place for the younger crowds to come sleep the day, and their hangover away, after having partied til dawn hours earlier.

I stopped by the beach a few times when I was in Barcelona, and it was beautiful! It was clean and the water was really blue. It wasn't overly crowded, but there were still people enjoying themselves there! Great place for a jog or just to relax. There are a few eateries right along the beach to grab a quick bite or sangria while taking in the ocean view. Highly recommend a trip to the beach (if you're a beach lover!)

The beach at "La Barceloneta" is pretty nice - for a city beach! Be aware that you are still in the city, so please take care of your valuables. There a lot of thieves going around this beach to catch your wallet and so on.

This beach is great to visit when you don't have that much time. If you have time, I recommend to jump into the train and drive to "Badalona" or "Montgat", which are in the north the next small tiny towns. Way more relaxed and CLEANER!

Awesome stretch of beaches, very clean and a lot of sports set up. There are many little restaurants along the boardwalk. Be careful of theft!

I spent many a day there. the best memories I have of that place was going there with my Andalucian boyfriend, I still remember his name; Antonio Cazorla Pomares. We had some nice walks and nice times on that beach.

Ah, I'm still kicking myself for not bringing a bathing suit. It was September and we thought the water would not be warm. Everybody was in the water and we were stuck on the beach, which is not a bad place itself by the way :)

Maybe I'm spoiled with the beautiful beaches I've been to, but I found Barceloneta beach rather underwhelming. That being said, I loved the area and the many clubs with open doors to the beach. This area is modern and funky, not what I expected at all! I'm sure the people are what make this beach the best and I unfortunately missed out on that by visiting just a little too early in February.

Did you stay out too late the night before to queue up for the big attractions? If so, come to this beach. The water is cool and a mojito is only a 10 yard walk away. A great way to spend the afternoon in one of the world's coolest cities.
The loose bathing suit rules don't hurt either.

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton right along the beach. If not for this great location, I would've felt remiss to be so far from the city. However, Barceloneta Beach is fantastic. This huge stretch of beach offers plenty of space for lounging and sunbathing (not recommended by most medical professionals, of course) in the toasty Spanish sun.

Description

Fun in the sun awaits you at Barceloneta Beach, which measures about 3,600 feet long. With its golden sand and sparkling water, this enticing beach is just the right place to spend a relaxing afternoon wading in the surf, collecting seashells or building sand castles. Beach bars called chiringuitos provide a range of refreshing cocktails and other cold beverages. Stroll down the boardwalk to observe the local culture, and pause to admire the quirky-looking Homenatge a la Barceloneta statue created by Rebecca Horn, or the massive golden fish sculpted by Frank Gehry.
