I could feel the wealth around me here. Sprawling golf course, bold blue surfaces tennis courts and a luxury spa. The rooms are clean, comfy and have a little country vibe. I could fall into a trance with the hill country view from the room. It's away from the city core, has it's own boutique shopping and a fine restaurant and separate little sports bar. All in all, it's a fine mix of outdoor sports, spa and happy hour. It's next to the green belt if a hike sounds right.Recommended for:

My family loves to come here for weekend getaways! It's a pleasant drive from Austin into the beautiful Hill Country and it's very reasonably priced for what all you get. There's a wonderful pool area where you can swim, relax, splash around or grab some food and drinks from the cabana. Nearby, there's life-size chess, an 18-hole mini golf course and a nature hike trail. My dad loves the golf course, he vows it's the best in Texas. The sisters, mom, and I love the spa. We've yet to have a bad experience. The rooms are beautiful and have a serene natural feel to them, keeping the Hillside Texas charm. Upgrades in rooms means difference in balcony size and view. And then there's the food! They offer several different dining experiences (which it's fun to try them all) from elegant to casual to suite your budget and your comfort, you can't go wrong with whichever place you end up.Recommended for:

Barton Creek is one of Austin's uniquely full-service resorts that cater to every possible interest for families, couples, girls getaways or corporate retreats. Obvious highlights include renowned golf courses (designed by Tom Fazio and local golf legend Ben Crenshaw), sprawling spa facilities with luxurious specialty services perfect for bridal or birthday parties, and gorgeous countryside views from almost everywhere on the property. It's a short drive to downtown and other tourist attractions, but everything guests need can be found onsite, from three gourmet meals a day to recreational and family-friendly activities. It's also a popular venue for weddings, receptions and corporate retreats.Recommended for:

Beautiful place to stay in the hill country with breathtaking views. Rooms are comfortable with an elegant, old-Texas feel. The spa services are a real treat, as are the indoor track and lap pool. Great on-site options for both casual and fine dining. Lovely set-up if you are looking for a place to get away-- if you are planning to spend a lot of time exploring the city of Austin, do note that the drive into town can be fraught with traffic from here.Recommended for:
