Most travelers don't make it out to Rome's fourth papal basilica, but it's their loss. Consecrated in the 4th century AD, the church is said to be constructed on the burial place of Saint Paul.

In my opinion this is the most beautiful church in Rome. altough it's not as big as the Vatican or the Lateran, it's somehow different and therefore special. One unique aspec of this basilica are the paintings of all the popes right under its roof. It's said, that once all the empty spaces are filled with portraits, the world will come to an end. Luckily, the Romanes already started, to add new empty frames.

Might not be the first monument you would have in mind when thinking about Rome’s patrimony, but it is certainly one of the most well kept and known Basilicas Roman love and preserve. It’s architecture is particular in that in walking toward the main entrance of the Basilica, a great ‘chiosco’ is welcoming you with palm trees and flowers. The magnificent gold mosaic of its temple shaped façade has been lately restored and shows in full light it’s glow and artistic beauty. The interior of the Basilica opens the space above your head into a wonderful gold ceiling all through the Basilica. The size of the monument makes you feel small and humble standing in such greatness in human’s accomplishments. It really worth visiting, a morning or afternoon of you visit to Rome should be reserved to this Basilica.
