This church is beautiful inside and out, but the best experience is climbing to the top of its iconic dome. Amazing views!

The church is beautiful but even more impressive are the views of the city from the basilica! You can see out all across Paris from here!

Coolest. Church. Ever. But a little out of the way. Worth going to see it. Careful in the surrounding areas though.

A beautiful church atop the highest hill in Paris. Sacre-Coeur is free and open to the public. Inside you'll find beautiful mosaics of religious scenes and figures. The city view from the front steps of the church is magnificent as well. A great panoramic view of the city. Below the steps, there are musicians and artists hanging out, entertaining visitors for tips.

Has a great view of Paris from the steps of Sacré-Coeur. The inside of the church is also breathtaking. The ceilings were made of mosaics. Absolutely stunning! Wish I could take pictures inside of the church. The Sacré-Coeur is constructed of stone from Château-Landon, which is known for it's high content of calcite. In damp weather calcite leaches out of the stone, keeping the appearance of the monument chalky white. A must see in Paris!

Sacré-Coeur is the beautiful cathedral on top of Montmartre, and not only is it nice to see from the inside, but the best part about it is the atmosphere around it. There is a magnificent view over the city and there are often musicians entertaining the young crowd that is sipping wine and picnicking on the steep staircases and on the little strip of lawn in between them. Bring your own blanket, some wine and cheese and you are set for a little romantic soirée.

You can take metro line 4 to Montmartre from Cite station which is 10 minutes walk from our studio. A 20 minute journey on the metro and then take a ride in the funicular (metro tickets eligible) to Sacre Coeur.

The Sacre Coeur is a beautiful church in Montmartre that provides a wonderful skyline view of Paris. The exterior and interior of the church is majestic to look at and is a visual apex after wandering around Montmartre.

Definitely my favorite structure in all of Paris. Careful though... we paid 5 euro to go down and visit the crypt, went through a turnstile and found ourselves climbing 325 steps to the top of the dome. The view was absolutely worth it, but some warning would have been nice!

This is a great place to go for the view of Paris and the view of the tourists and locals. Go during the day or a night for different view. Take the funicular up if the walking is too much. Watch out for the street people they can be very aggressive.

I'm a very big fan of the church and the hill on which it sits. I am not so much a fan of the pick-pockets etc. on the walk up.

This stunning masterpiece could almost be mistaken for the Taj Mahal. Overrun with tourists but a must-see. The views of Paris from the grounds are as much a draw as the basilica itself.

First Sacre-Couer has a ciew down in Paris that alone is worth the trip to Montmartre. You have mimes and street artists and a cathedral with stations of the cross. Want more? Down a steep side staircase is a small collection of cats. Someone (or several people) used to feed them just under the wrought iron fence adjacent to the stairs. Watch something like that once and you'll never forget Paris.

Massive white church atop montmartre. It is impossible to miss. Sacre-Coeur is a popular tourist destination and with good reason. The building is quite impressive and the views of the city from the church are also worthwhile. The church is in a neo-Romanesque-byzantine style which gives it a unique and almost eastern European or Greek feel.

Description

Sacre-Coeur Basilica is a Roman Catholic church in Paris, France. It is located at the peak of Montmartre, the highest point in Paris. The basilica is one of Paris’ most iconic images, with its stark white silhouette visible from many points in the city. The entire building is constructed of travertine, a type of stone that produces calcite, a mineral that gives the church its pure white color. A beautiful mosaic and artfully constructed crypts are of particular interest within the church. Services are held regularly in the church, and tourists are expected to dress and behave appropriately at all times.
