A must see place if you're visiting Dubai. If you want to feel the "old" Dubai this is the place. Place is lined with art galleries, cafes, shops and is very near Dubai Museum

While the Bastakiyah quarter may not be authentically “old”, it has been beautifully restored to represent life in old Dubai. The small neighborhood is a labyrinth of winding streets lined with cafes, art galleries, and shops. It’s one of the most unique areas in Dubai and the heart of the historical quarter. The architecture is representative of old Dubai with its wind towers, alleyways, and heritage houses. You can also admire the original city walls as you explore the neighborhood. I would recommend a visit here in the evening, preferably during the winter, to enjoy a cup of Arabic coffee and desserts.

One of the most authentic places in Dubai. Make sure you spend a couple of hours walking around and exploring the neighborhood.

You can find several galleries, museums along with a small hotel and some cafes.

Bastakiya is the historical center of Dubai and where the city started.

I love this area. It is newly built but is a nice effort to recreate the feeling of the ancient Middle East. Bastakiya is filled with galleries and cafes. It isn't quite as vibrant as I'd like it to be but is a great place to visit.

a look at he old Dubai. Bastakiya is full of shops and small restaurants that sell traditional goods. an open ir museum about the old fishing port that was Dubai. you'll find nice cafes by the water to sit and have a shisha and fresh green apple juice.

Don't expect to see heritage buildings in this area as Dubai is a relatively 'new' city

Description

The Bastakiya district in Dubai is one of the oldest residential areas in the city. A trip to Al Bastakiya is a terrific way for you to escape the urban hustle and bustle of modern Dubai, allowing you a taste of traditional life in the middle of the metropolis. The first buildings in the district were built in the 1890’s, giving them a unique architectural style. A walk through Al Bastakiya is a way to travel back in time and experience a small piece of a city lost in time.
