This has to be the most spectacular ferry ride I have ever been on, especially the bit where it went between two islands. Unfortunately I went too late in the year to see any whales but I did manage to see some porpoises from the ferry.

We took the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. The one thing that really impressed me is how well everything is connected in and around Vancouver. After landing at the airport, we took a train right from the airport to Bridgeport station, a bus then took us to the Tsawassen (pronounded Tawa-ssen) terminal and we took the BC Ferry to Victoria. The price is $15 and some change per person but it is well worth it. The loading and unloading is of passengers is a breeze - there are tons of seating areas, great food court too. We had fun enjoying the sights of the Pacific Northwest. The Ferry ride takes about 1.5 hours but you don't even feel it. After getting off at Swartz Bay on the Vancouver Island, it is a single bus that takes you straight to inner harbour in Victoria. Overall a very pleasant ride and good value for the money.

Enjoy the cruise across the Salish Sea (A.K.A. Georgia Strait), through the southern Gulf Islands to Swartz Bay ferry terminal, an easy 40 minute drive into downtown Victoria.
You can also travel via Pacific Coach Lines bus from YVR or from downtown Vancouver into downtown Victoria. We'll meet you at the bus terminal.

If you ever find yourself in Vancouver, I highly recommend taking BC ferries for a day trip - somewhere, anywhere. Pick one of their destinations and go. The views from BC ferries on a sunny day are unbelievably beautiful.
