The Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro is a cozy, comfortable, charming lodging option located on the always pleasant Charles Street. I must admit that the rooms are rather small--and the one suite can only be accessed via a winding narrow staircase I wouldn't want to navigate with luggage—but the attention to detail and the attractive, updated, well-thought out design schemes more than made up for the lack of space for me. I loved the black and white photographs on display in the rooms (a welcome alternative to the typical, cheesy hotel art you see at chain hotels). And maybe it’s the staff, location, or the delicious restaurant complete with a fireplace on the first floor, but this place just gave off a very homey, welcoming vibe. I’m also a huge fan of Charles Street with its brick sidewalks, old iron shop signs, and quaint shops and bars. It is traditional New England at its finest.
