    Minturn

Minturn is a diamond in the rough. If you are staying in the Vail/Eagle area, it is a small local town just a few minutes up the road with one main street, but lots of character.

We didn't like Vail much. It was a quiet little "town" that seemed to consist of a bunch of condos and a ski area.

    Breckenridge

Compared with Vail, Breckenridge feels more like an all-American ski town and less like an Austrian village. There are clothing boutiques, sports bars, souvenirs shops and the like nestled up with fine dining restaurants. I've always been a fan of the small jerky stands set up in the summer time. Breckenridge is an easy ride from Denver and Boulder, located ...

The A-list ski town has no shortage of plush hotels primed for romance—such as The Little Nell or the St. Regis—or sips to get you there: the Rocky Mountain state’s legendary craft beer scene helped rank this tony mountain town at the top of the survey for its local brews (such as Aspen Brewing’s pale ale called This Season’s Blonde). ...

The stretch of route 70 is considered one of the gems of the interstate highway system. Literally dangling above the upper reaches of the Colorado River while passing through the narrow defile of Glenwood Canyon, the roadway is a natural and architectural triumph all at once. One of the main attractions along this stretch of road is Hanging Lake, a ...

Fairplay is a charming old mining town. It's fun to explore (it's a small main street), and the old hotel is worth a stay. Fairplay also makes a good base camp if you want to spend the weekend bagging Fourteeners.

I spent a lot of time here as a kid. It still has this rough and tumble miner charm that is often washed away in the ski resorts nearby. Don't miss a trip to Turquoise Lake, the Fish Hatchery or a steak at Quincy's.

Snowmass is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Aspen with great hills to ski down. It's a cute little village that you should definitely take the opportunity to visit.

We spent the weekend in Carbondale and the valley. A quaint town with charm and character. Once you get off of Hwy 82 and head towards Main Street the small town feel is evident and appreciated!
