Attractive modern / rebuilt shopping area -- the architecture and nearby minarets give it a bit of a souk-like atmosphere but with a hefty dose of shopping mall. A must-see if you are in Beirut. Easy, relaxed, pleasant. A good place to see locals kick back and enjoy themselves. A few local brands but mostly international.

    La Plage

    12 reviews

La Plage is a little slice of Lebanese heaven. Situated right on Beirut's corniche, this swimming club affords stunning views of the Mediterranean but the most gorgeous views are poolside. Surrounded by bronzed beautiful bodies in bikinis, grooving to the hip beats of the resident DJ and sipping on the cocktail of your choice, you won't be able to believe ...

Nice little street with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes. Definitely worth an evening stroll. If you don't know where you want to go, ask a taxi to drop you off at the police station.

    ABC Dbayeh

    2 reviews

The Other ABC mall branch, located in Dbayeh, is as much a pleasurable experience as ABC Achrafieh. It is never too crowded (except Christmas :P) and offers a wide variety of interesting shops. Not to forget the newly opened cinemas that includes one VIP. And the restaurants at the terrace are a waiting-list ritual during summer.

    Coop d'État

    2 reviews

It was at this bar that I had this, "Ohhhh, I see what Beirut's all about!" moment. Such a great, non-flashy mix of interesting people from all over the world. The bar is part of a larger hostel/cafe/language school compound, so there's always a flow of younger students in and out. And often really good music--funky DJs or cool traditional ...

Although it's the biggest mall in Beirut, it's quality that matters, not quantity. It offers a lot of standard stores of every department. My favorites are Virgin, 'BHV déco' for homes and Topshop for Clothes and a nice variation of restaurants in the food court. And I have to say, it's one of the best cinemas so far. Beware of ...
