Ah, the Best Western, the unequivocally OK-but-not-too-expensive-but-not-too-horrible standard for hotels around the world. I’m of the age where if I’m staying in a Best Western, I’m feeling pretty ritzy, and if you arrive in that state of mind you’ll be surprised by the Best Western Atlantis. The sauna, pool and gym are a lot bigger (and in the case of the sauna, extant) than I would have expected, and you can have a largely edible buffet breakfast for only twelve dollars. At the end of the day, it has a central location, private rooms, working bathrooms and a price tag that suggests you’d get less. For a backpacker who’s feeling ritzy or a family looking to save cash while being able to stay in the CBD, I’d recommend it.Recommended for:

I’ll admit going into it I had fairly low expectations, thinking of the Best Western as a budget hotel chain and believing that the quality of the accommodations would most likely reflect that. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel has some really nice features at totally reasonable prices. The pool and gym for instance were both bigger and nicer than some I’ve seen at other, even higher ranked hotels. There’s also a sauna. The rooms are pretty simple and the bathrooms are definitely on the small side, but you get what you pay for. The room also had a pullout couch so you could get even more bang for your buck if someone wanted to sleep there. Rooms start at AUD $160/night if you book directly through the hotel, but you can get cheaper rates online. For an additional $12 there’s a continental buffet breakfast ($6 for kids).Recommended for:
