- Best Western John Jay InnFirst to ReviewOct 19, 2013
Totally quiet, remote motel in south Sacramento off the Hwy 99. Looks like an oddly marooned seaside cottage on the outside. Friendly staff, an indoor pool, functioning free Wi-Fi and a pretty generous continental breakfast buffet make it a good deal for just $70 on a weeknight.

My first impression of the Best Western John Jay Inn was that it seemed to stand in stark contrast to the sometimes gritty surrounding area because, from the outside at least, it could easily pass for a bed and breakfast. Although located within walking distance of dining, shopping and entertainment options (including a roller rink), it’s on the outskirts of the area’s big attractions like the State Capitol and Old Town Sacramento. That being said, the free parking offered here is a bonus since you’ll need a car in order to see the sights. The property’s fenced pool can be found just off the fitness center, which includes a sauna and shower, amenities that, in my experience, are rare in budget hotels such as this one. Complimentary breakfast served daily in the lobby helps travelers make the most of their a.m. hours, and the hotel’s wet bar-equipped business suites make unwinding after a long day a breeze.Recommended for:Business Travelers
