Reasonable prices for miami, free shuttle from the airport (unusual since this hotel is not close to the airport at all). The service was good, they helped me book a tour & tried to give me good directions for walking across a bridge into a better shopping area. There is a machine in the lobby, available all hours, that makes pretty decent individual cups of espresso for free. The breakfast buffet was ok & free, they don't quibble about letting you use it both the day you arrive & when you depart. The guy who picked us up from the airport was very friendly, came as soon as I telephoned & didn't just drive us - he told us about the area on the way in.
We stayed in a bayfront balcony cabin, but I was a bit disappointed. The room itself was fine & updated, and the view was gorgeous. But we were on just about the lowest level, and with only 1 window (the sliding glass door) at the end of a very long room - it was dark like a cave. The rooms have been updated, look fine, furniture is good & the carpet in good condition. The room was very clean, I almost always look around & have to ask the bathroom be cleaned better - but not here. The exterior of the building does look pretty rough though - think cement blocker motel (the building that has the most premium hotel rooms - bayfront balconies) with tacky green outdoor carpeting & looking like it has fallen out of repair. That is just the appearance of 1 building, on the exterior - inside the rooms are just fine. You can do much worse in miami for more $.
There is a benihana restaurant half a block away, and shuckers restaurant on site. Also a liquor store, grocery store, beauty salon and pharmacy across the street.
