The Pioneer has class, history, charm and an excellent location smack dab in the middle of downtown Lahaina. A lovely place for a small wedding – it’s got a very private courtyard, a banquette area and simple pool. The hotel maintains a whaling-town theme and spaces are decorated with historical relics dating back to its 1901 construction as an Inn for wild’n’crazy ocean faring types. Rooms are small and nothing extravagant. The cleaning service was of the friendliest order and we got some good laughs out of them. Views overlook the ocean or the incredibly HUGE banyan tree in the park just across the street. The birdsong from the tree during sunset is incredible and not to be missed. A restaurant/bar next door felt like it might get pleasantly rowdy from time to time. I adored the Pioneer Inn!

If you want to stay where the action is in Lahaina, Pioneer Inn is the place to stay. Beautiful view of the harbor and lots and lots of places to go all within walking distance.

The best place to spend Halloween in Maui is from the roof deck of the Pioneer Inn. It's the perfect mix of Mardi Gras meets Island!

I had some business in Lāhaina and a decided to stay at the old Pioneer Inn on Front Street, across from the Banyan Tree. Wow, what a delightful surprise. It was peaceful, and a safe haven from the hustle and tourist traffic right in one of Mauiʻs busiest locations! Perfect price and location. I ended up playing tourist myself. I recommend this historic Inn as a real alternative to the large resorts in Kaanapali.

Historic wood building full of restaurants, shops and hotel rooms, too.
