A girl on a mission, I had no time to lime (calypso-speak for to be lazy). I took a taxi from the airport the three minutes to this property. Any one traveling light could walk it, which is one of the reasons this chain motel is popular with business travelers, who often hold court (meetings) right at Portobellas Restaurant. This is also a safe bet for early morning flights, or for the first night in, if your flight is a late one.
It is located smack on Lindbergh Beach, which is the closest beach to town. Sundays are fun days with the brunch buffet offering breakfast items and West Indian specialties. Take a table on the terrace steps from the sea, but start with a frothy, rum-something at the happening beach bar. And the adjacent pool is lovely. Wednesday night’s buffet is a good deal with authentic island dishes and live music.
Other than that, like many St. T. properties, it is lost in decades past. That said, the rooms are a good size, have desks, and recent upgrades include flat-screen TVs.
