Dating from 1912, the Beverly Hills Hotel and its ostentatious, pink exterior is known as a place where celebrities meet and stay. The hotel includes the famed Polo Lounge. The hotel's attendants are friendly and helpful, even to non-guests. Marilyn Monroe lived here at various times. For those interested in trivia, she stayed in bungalow 21A during the 1960 filming of Let's Make Love.Recommended for:

Best meat loaf I've ever had. This musician sounded just like STING, and my parents were impressed. I've also performed there at weddings and bumped into Donald Trump and Keanu Reeves to name a few. Gorgeous, historical treasure.Recommended for:

I love historic LA, because amidst the glitz, the sheen, the sunshine there is a history here. The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of those places that proves it. My old roommate and I used to have a guilty pleasure of coming here when we felt like celebrating something silly and indulging in a delicious brunch at the Polo Lounge, where you feel like you're stepping back in time. I have yet to try lunch here but I can safely say that breakfast will leave you very satisfied.Recommended for:

Lovely hotel but owned by the Sultan of Brunei who is supporting legislation legalizing the stoning of gays and lesbians. Boycott Dorchester Hotels.

I have to say that, for the price point, I was somewhat disappointed. Instead of feeling retro-vintage, this spot seems dated, despite the recent renovation. I did enjoy the historic photos of the property (showing acres of empty space in what now is a very populated Beverly Hills) and the photo montage of classic Hollywood stars in the downstairs hallway – including the ultracool Cary Grant, advertising, “Fashion is seasonal. Style is forever!” Perhaps so, but not as much for the hotel, which I found stuck in the 60s, but not in a cool way. The dated coffeeshop is still serving pancakes and burgers. The outside is a mix of styles that don’t fit together either – part New Orleans, part Florida bungalow. I wouldn’t mind the kitschy mix if this was a more budget-friendly spot, but as an upclass joint, it doesn’t fly.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary. And if there were any doubt that the “Pink Palace”—as it’s still endearingly referred to by many locals—is a celebrity and industry haunt, the red carpet lining the entryway should put that to rest. It’s hard not to feel special wandering the hallways here. And even if you don’t decide to stay overnight, consider having breakfast at the counter of the Fountain Coffee Room, or enjoying a martini or power lunch over piano music at the Polo Lounge (star-spotting is virtually guaranteed).
The rooms are constantly being renovated to keep up with the times, but some are a bit basic, given the price tag. If you really want to splurge, the bungalows are the place to do it. It’s easy to get lost among the windy paths back there, but worth it when you consider the footsteps you may be following in.

This is another great spot for food, drinks and relaxing. The famous polo lounge, or the diner. The newly remodeled Bar nineteen12 is one of my favorites. A lot of specialty cocktails to choose from. The pool is nice and they offer cabanas as well.
