This hotel has a little more character and charm than your average motor inn. It also has a cool old-school Beverly Hills feeling. Major perk: you're right next door to Swingers, which is open 24 hours and serves delicious shakes and other classic diner menu items.Recommended for:Budget Travelers

Very good budget lodgings. Fabulous central location, destination diner downstairs and walking distance to Farmers Market and Cantor's. Nice staff. Place is managed well. Elevator is slow as molasses in January, it was our in-joke whenever we stayed here. Free parking seems secure enough, but be smart and don't leave stuff in your car.

Does it count as retro if it was actually built in 1965? The Beverly Laurel certainly feels retro. And it’s been owned by the same family throughout its existence. Rooms are very reasonably priced, starting around $130, though rates will increase next year, after the renovation is complete. The place is popular with families, many of whom are repeat visitors.
As the manager likes to say, “people ask where something is, and I tell them it’s 10 minutes that way, or 15 minutes the other way." Translation: it’s centrally located. Besides, where else can you find underground parking for only $5? However, the WiFi charge of $6 per day per instrument seems a bit excessive. Located right next door, Swingers is actually not part of the hotel, but it’s a popular diner (even with locals), and serves food almost around the clock.Recommended for:Family Travelers

This motel is friendly, and comfortable and I’d even say charming in an offbeat Hollywood kind of way. It wraps around a sparkly aqua pool with tropical trees and all the rooms have a bright pool view which feels oh so LA to me. They are sunny and clean and decorated with movie star memorabilia. The staff is very friendly. I love the motel restaurant attached to it, called Swingers---it’s such a Hollywood hipster scene! It has a decent diner menu, but it’s really perfect for breakfast. Since I’m a foodie there are other really good restaurants on Beverly Boulevard closeby to explore too. So for me that’s what makes the room doubly great--because it’s cheap enough I can spend money on a fancy meal or two instead!
