Big Ben is the most famous landmark in the UK. What it really is is the bell tower of the Houses of Parliament. It's resounding clang is kind of cool to witness, especially on a dreary day.

Unfortunately there was a bunch of construction near Houses of Parliament & Big Ben which resulted in large crowds, but we were able to get a few pictures of the exterior. One of these days when I don't have a child with me, I would like to explore in more depth.

Seems like a must-see - swathes of tourists are always gathered outside it. It is attached to the Houses of Parliament, so you could see them as well. Whitehall is just next to it - go and see Number 10, then head on down to Trafalgar Square and a billion other great places. Also on the same square as Westminster Abbey, where Will and Kate got married and where some other slightly less famous kings and queens are buried.

As iconic as it is big, this famous clock tower is the most recognizable symbol of London. It's a beautiful photo subject, and lights up at night with the houses of Parliament for gorgeous views across the Thames.

"Look kids, there's Big Ben!" Indeed, it's one of those places you need to see in your lifetime. You might be surprised how impressed you'll be. People often confuse Big Ben as being the name for the clock. It is actually the name of the bell inside. See... and you thought it would be boring! Silly humans... go enjoy!

It's chimes echo throughout central London and it's a sound that distinctly says "You're in London, baby!" You can catch a view of Big Ben when you head toward Westminster and the Parliament area.

Big Ben is a landmark in London. If you walk by in the evening it is beautifully lit up.

welcome to the most known clock in the world. I think it is simply due to that ridiculous scene from European Vacation http://youtu.be/iAgX6qlJEMc

I definitely enjoyed being able to see this site and parliament as well. The carvings and statue work adorning it are quite awesome to see, but in the end its just a bell tower clock.

It is fun to look at... but to be honest, I wish I could have climbed it like spider man or gone base jumping off of it! lol... it is a site worth beholding though, but it never had the impact that many other things have had for me.

Truly the most famous 'icon' of the capital. It stands there like the guardian of time. Here is one unusual vantage point of view to admire it. Definitely one thing that any visitor must visit and see.

Description

Actually the name of the clock inside the tower, not the tower itself, Big Ben looms high above parliament and the River Thames. Impressive and iconic, non-citizens of the UK are not permitted to climb the tower-- enjoy it from across the river or from the top of the London Eye.
