The fantastic Gogobot community here in London has been enjoying a number of events and meetups in the big smoke including travel chats, parties, dinner meetups, workshops and tours!
Here’s a recap of what’s happened in London so far in 2013:
To kick off the new year, we partnered with CareerBreak360 at Pitcher & Piano in Holborn for an inspiring meetup with a group of Gogobotters & career breakers where we chatted about travel, technology and travel gear on the road, and ended the evening with a fun Gogobot Q&A.
Our big party in January took us back in time a few decades at our “Gogobot Back to the 80’s!” party, which was sponsored by MyTravelMoney. It took place at Islington’s Lucky Voice Karaoke bar, where our Gogobot community enjoyed a music quiz, lots of delicious cocktails and free karaoke all night long in Lucky Voice’s amazing karaoke booth! You can see all the photos from the party here.
We wrapped up January with General Assembly, where Gogobot was present at General Assembly’s “GA Loves London: Travel Edition” event. Several members of the travel industry in London spoke or conducted workshops, including travel blogger Julie Falconer (aka A Lady in London) and Gogobot’s very own Kelly Lees. The workshops and panels at the day-long event inspired those at the event to travel or to try new travel technologies.
February kicked off with a small Gogobot dinner meetup where we experienced a different kind of Indian food at Covent Garden’s Dishoom. We explored the fantastic Indian “street food” dishes and marvelled at the gorgeous interior, inspired by “Old World” Iranian-Indian cafes in Bombay.
Our next February event saw a group of Gogobotters spend a fantastic, sunny Saturday afternoon with Walk.Eat.Talk.Eat learning about east-end history, exploring quirky parts of Brick Lane and of course, eating!
We gobbled up delicious local cuisine on the 3-hour 6-stop tour. It was a totally new way to experience East London and is highly recommended for visitors and Londoners alike.
We wrapped up February in style at our “Gogobot Makes Sushi!” event, where a group of awesome, enthusiastic Gogobotters learned how to make one of Japan’s favourite foods with one of the amazing chefs at Shiro Sushi in central London.
If you ever need some fresh maki, give a London Gogobot Pro a call! More photos of our sushi-making event & other meetups is here.
That’s all for now – stay tuned for lots of exciting spring meetups!
