A: I’m an early 80’s child. Let’s just say, I remember the 80’s. . . .
Q: Current Occupation?
A: Small business consultant/website designer/ SEO-Traffic analyst/MOM
Q: Dream Occupation?
A: Spokesperson for a company trying to make a positive difference in the world.
Q: Born In?
A: Aspen (coolest place to be born)
Q: Years in SD?
Q: When did it occur to you that you love to travel?
A: The first time I flew alone was when I was 6. I remember it exactly to this day. I remember waving to my mom as I boarded the plane and the feeling of pure excitement of being on the plane. I spent the flight studying the crew and the other passengers and wondered if they were feeling as elated as I was. Not to mention the fact that in just hours you walked off the same plane in a completely different part of the country (or world). It’s something I think about every time I fly. (no boats for me)
Q: Last place you traveled and your fave thing about it?
A: The absolute last place I traveled was to NY last month. Yes, I got to see Manhattan, but only for a few hours. I spent my time there in Long Island. There was a moment when we were walking around a town fair that I realized; “Now this is a place to grow up.”
Q: Your fave travel spot so far and why?
A: This is tough. . . I loved traveling to Utila and being in pure paradise, but not as much as I loved Zermatt. Oh, but wait! London! I’ve spent most my time abroad there and can honestly say that I love that city because of the culture, the size, the people, the TUBE! I feel alive there every time I go.
Q: Do you prefer to travel solo or with friends or family?
A: It really depends on what kind of trip I’m taking. Family means myself, my three children, and another adult to help me…I can’t say that I’ve gone very far with all of them, but their wish is to travel to Hawaii so that’s my goal in the near future. Traveling abroad I prefer traveling with a good friend that I’m extremely comfortable with that I can share the experience with. That way, I can go back months/years later and say, “remember when we . . . “ Nothing beats that.
Q: Any tips on your travel preference? Solo or with others?
A: Sleep on the plane. That way when you arrive to your destination you are ready to take on the world!
Q: How did you learn about Gogobot?
A: I learned about Gogobot by attending a Gogobot event with a friend. I’ve done some fun things around my home town with other Gogogbotters and met some really nice people.
Q: What inspires you to use Gogobot on a regular basis?
A: I love traveling and our hometown just happens to be a popular tourist destination. There is so much to do here that it can be overwhelming (even for residents). Using Gogobot to share my favorite spots around town makes me feel that I’m helping any possible travelers. Plus, when I travel, it’s a great place to share my experiences with people that have that same passion.
Q: What San Diego spots (in the following categories) would you recommend to a tourist/out-of-towner?
Please note that I am in North County San Diego. Most tourists travel to downtown and surrounding spots and my expertise is far north. I will try to give more southern spots. . .
A2: I’ve stayed at the Palomar multiple times and have zero complaints. They also have a great bar below, Salt Box.
A3: Wild Animal Park (I refuse to call it Safari Park), Kayaking on Lake Hodges, Paddle boarding in any lagoon, Mission Beach roller coaster, the seals at La Jolla Cove, shopping in downtown Carlsbad, Balboa Park, Coronado.
Q5: Night Out?
A5: A night out downtown means a must-stop at Vin de Syrah (locals call it Syrah). Have fun finding it!
Q6: First Date?
A6: Because I’m in North County, I’ll choose a restaurant up here. Vintana in Escondido is a lovely spot to spend a first date. After dinner you can stroll around the Lexus dealership and learn about how into cars he is
A7: A stroll through Carlsbad Village will give you clothing shops, antique shops, jewelry stores, a store just for men, and quite a few fabulous restaurants. You are looking for State Street. (Here’s my biggest tip: Go to State St. before 12 and pick up your lunch at Yoshino Sushi. Cash Only. The poke bowl is amazing. )
