You probably know that people are doing sun salutations like mad from the Big Apple to the Aloha State, but you may not be aware that September is National Yoga Awareness Month. Created by the Department of Health and Human Services, this month the United States comes alive with introductory yoga deals designed to help first-timers get on the mat. Likewise, yoga is a favorite activity for Gogobot’s Wellness Tribe, whose members are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, especially when traveling.
Aside from improving strength and flexibility, yoga is a wonderful way to develop mental clarity and a greater sense of peace, and hotels are catching on. Now more than ever, hotels are inviting clients to yoga classes, and they’re getting creative about it. Whether comparing your landlocked dolphin pose to the real thing – next to an underwater observation area – or breathing deeply on a breathtaking rooftop deck, a session on the mat will leave you ready for whatever your trip brings next.
We’ve put together a list of the best National Yoga Month offerings at hotels around the United States, and, to get you inspired, an appropriate pose and its name in Sanskrit. So get ready to roll out your mat and bring your hands to your heart center…right after check-in.
