The Bloomsbury neighborhood (containing the eponymous square that heads this review) is one of my favorite places for wandering in central London. It contains not only sights like the blockbuster British Museum, but an endless array of cute shops and cafes as well. Too many first-time visitors end up trapped in the area around Piccadilly; a wander through Bloomsbury is infinitely more pleasant.Recommended for:

Bloomsbury is where I feel most at home in London. A very walkable, cozy neighborhood full of university students, professionals, and this nice and popular but quiet square.
I spent six months here as a visiting student, and toured all the historic homes once occupied by famous writers, drank too many pints at the pubs, and found what real chips were supposed to be like.
Can't wait to return!
