Be prepared for a wait! By that I mean there is always a crowd and a line. The food and service are great so I understand it.Moderate prices make this a winner!!

Blu Jam Cafe serves up some of the best breakfast in LA! It's so good that they serve it until 5pm every day. There's often a long wait for a table on the weekends, but it's worth it. Just put your name down on the list, hit some shops on Melrose, and then come back to check if your table is ready.
I've had their Florentine Benedict, which is delicious, but you really need to get what they're known for here: their Crunchy French Toast. It's egg brioche dipped in batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh bananas and berries, served with vanilla bean sauce. It's so good, you will never be able to have French Toast any other way! Get a latte too - you'll be impressed with the art on it!
Love the ambiance as well. The place used to be a jazz bar, and the name pays homage to that. The exposed brick, artwork and jazz music also reflect that. Great place for people watching!

My sister deemed her dish: "Hands down, Best french toast EVER."
We enjoyed the texture of the bread: light and fluffy, as you'd expect french toast to be on the oily/buttery side. Blackberries, bananas, and strawberries sprinkled around the slices, with a powdered sugar finish. Delicious!!
Perfectly p-p-p-poached egg, nice hollandaise, smoked salmon, raw spinach and tomato, all on top of a buttery croissant. I liked that the side potatoes weren't too greasy. Eating the ingredients separately wasn't too terrible, but smoked salmon and spinach by itself is a weird combo. Everything collectively together as I built myself a bite = fantastic.
Beet salad: I didn't find this salad particularly outstanding although I do like my beets (love for my boy, Dwight Schrute!), but my mom loved it. Big chunks of yellow and red beets, with gorgonzola and vinaigrette in the salad.
Might I add that the owner/manager(?) stood next to the host, making sure people were promptly seated with the promised waiting time.
And all the busboys referred to us as Chiquitas. "You're welcome Chiquita" "Excuse me Chiquita" "See ya later Chiquitas" ...terms of endearment make me feel so very special! :*)
I was slightly disappointed to find that they didn't draw a cool skull/butterfly/mermaid/flower/monster in my organic latte, but it was good regardless. You see that I was waiting for something aesthetically fun and pleasing. IT'S OK, BJC!
Will be back 17 more times!!

I came to this place a few years ago just when it was starting up. The place is really small and cute. However, the food is absolutely fantastic. I came for lunch and it was definitely worth the money! I have been meaning to go back but since I have heard that their breakfast is fantastic, I will make sure I stop by soon!

Had the best brunch at Blu Jam this morning.
Parked in the residential neighborhood.
We were told the wait was 45min - 60min for four people when we arrived around 12:15P - I think it turned out being more like 30 minutes :) Thank goodness because I was Soooo hungry.
This was our first time here so we went all out since we couldn't each settle on just one thing to order.
My son had the breakfast trio - 2 pancakes, bacon, 2 eggs - We let him be to enjoy his and did our own thing ;) $12.95
We shared the
- Blu Jam Benedict : Poached eggs on a toasted English muffin with Black Forest Ham, crispy bacon, topped with hollandaise, served with potatoes $12.95
- Spicy Tex Mex Tofu Hash (Vegan and Gluten Free): Organic Tofu scrambled with black beans, onion, chipotle, cilantro, potatoes, tomatoes, salsa fresca, and avocado, served with corn tortillas 10.95
BEST DISH EVER!!!!! Omg, this is insane good - if you are a fan of tofu, black beans, chilanto, avocado - well all of the above you will LOVE this - it was seriously, ridiculously tasty!
- Crunchy French Toast: Egg brioche dipped in batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh bananas and berries, served with vanilla bean sauce 11.95
If you are looking for sweet vs savory ORDER this french toast OMG it was SOOOO good.
Non fat latte was great - barista did some really cute foam art (see pic)
We will definitely be back here, wonderful breakfast spot. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for something very yummy but beware of the wait time - if you are very hungry grab a coffee or something tiny to hold you over in case you are waiting on a table.

My favorite breakfast joint in all of LA. It took me a while to find a place I really, really liked! It's on Melrose so parking can be a little tough but not impossible, you may have to walk 5 minutes (which is far for LA people, but not for tourists). They also offer valet, even in the mornings!
I always start out with the cornflake crusted french toast to share with the table. It is as good as it found. Yum! My go-to dish is the spicy tex mex tofu hash. No, I'm not a vegetarian but I fell in love with this dish. I've tried other dishes but I keep coming back to this one. Their juices are fresh squeezed...grapefruit is my favorite.
The newest thing is that they serve breakfast all day! That's how popular their breakfast is. I love this place.

French Toast!! First place I think about when I crave french toast! Buttery flavors with a crunch! The best in LA?
If you are are a hungry man, probably not not the place for you. Must say, their dishes are very creative and somewhat unique! There is a reason why theres always people waiting in line to eat at this trendy little restaurant on sat or sunday mornings. Because the food is good, service is good, and hype.
So far, I've had the brioche french toast and the crunchy french toast. Everyone say the crunchy ones are a must try, but I say brioche all the way!! Still has a bit of a crunch, and full of that buttery flavor. Literately salivating as I am writing about these crazy delicious toasts! Never knew I was so into it until I've tired it here.
Also tried the steak hash. Another dish that just looks absolutely amazing. With So much different ingredients, each fork full is a pleasure of pure foodgasm.
The service here is great. Tentative staff that makes you feel welcomed. They are great at giving advice on what to order. Or if you wanna just chitchat, always have something clever/funny to say.
Only drawback is the parking. It is Hollywood, finding good parking maybe turn into quite a bit of a walk. There is always the valet service if you are feelin ballin'. But there are residential areas nearby. Usually can find parking if it is far enough from the main street.
Blu Jam's food is not just delicious, they are also visually stunning. Even a simple dish of eggs Benedict looks fabulous. It is no surprise that there is constantly a line to get some brunch at this joint.Recommended for:Trendsters

This is a solid brunch option close to Melrose shopping. Their coffee drinks are awesome and you can't go wrong with any of their breakfast options. Parking can be tight around here, but less of a problem if you get there earlier.

The crunchy french toast is absolutely to die for, crave-worthy stuff. It's the specialty here and it lives up to the hype. The vanilla bean sauce takes it to the next level. There's always a wait here for it on Sundays but it's well worth it. So good that after the first time I ate it, I finished it off and immediately wanted to order another on the fly eventhough I was full. Everything else is good there, but pretty standard stuff for brunch.

Blu Jam is one of those places where pretty much everything is outstanding and you just wish you had more room in your stomach to try everything! I'd recommend the French Toast if it's your first time out... you won't be disappointed!
