This is my favorite spot in Ghana. It's near the small town of Kintampo. This isn't a place where monkeys sit in cages for people to come and stare at them. Rather, this is a community that reveres the local populations of mona and colobus monkeys. The people of the community and the monkeys have a long and beautiful history with each other that the guide you'll pick up there will explain. The locals have a great deal of respect for the monkeys and go so far as to make graves for their fallen, furry neighbors. The sanctuary is really just the forest next to the village and the tour consists of an easy walk through the forest where the wild monkeys will come right up to you. The only drawback to this place is that it isn't easy to get to.
