    Las Americas Hotel

The Las Americas Hotel meets basic needs but does not strive to be a destination hotel for business people. The wifi was spotty throughout our visit and we struggled to get hot water. The morning buffet is decent.

The pin on the map looks wrong because it is located half a block off the plaza. It is a step above the hostels and is in a great location. However it is more money than the hostels and you are less likely to meet other fun travellers.

It is by no means a great hotel. Nevertheless, it is a decent option. It is on the main plaza and there are rooms with air conditioning. The service is fairly good, and by the standards of hotels in San José it is one of your better options

Nice, clean and safe hostel in the center of Santa Cruz. They have a nice patio area with hammocks. Staff is fairly friendly. While there is nothing wrong with the Residencial Bolivar, for what you pay you can get better in other hostels/hotels in Santa Cruz

One of my go to spots in the city. It is nothing special, but clean rooms in a good location. Solid value spot. It is right in the shopping district, and a nice view from the small roof deck of the city below. Better acclimatize before you walk back to this spot from the prado though.

Basic hotel with simple clean rooms. It is cheap, and not too far from the main plaza and church and safe. Hard to complain.

They do great fishing tours. We caught the peacock bass we were looking for. Their food is great as long as you are a bit adventurous. They serve up crocodile and the such. The Frenchman owner also take a lot of pictures on the t rip which he gives to you ---so that is nice. When I went the lodge ...

These were really nice when they were finished in 2006, but because the non-profit who managed the project (ASUR based in Surce) did not provide any quality training to the community members to manage it, or allocate funds to upkeep and repairs, the cabans were already in disrepair by 2008. However even given the sinks and toilets mostly no longer ...

One of two hotels on the plaza. Hotel Patriarca is definitely the inferior of the 2.

A well designed rustic musuem, the architechure is very nice. However once it was realized that there was no one to run the musuem (short sightedness by Non-profit ASUR based in Surce) and there was no one in Chaunaca who wanted to go to a musuem, it was turned into a sort of guest house. It works okay as such. ...
