I didn't realise that I would have sooooo much fun with this tour! Its not only for the kids. As a matter of fact there were more adults during the tour :) I had wanted so much to volunteer to drive the "amphibian" but to shy to volunteer. The driver who guided us even sounded like a duck "quack"

"Quack, Quack!" There is a reason why this is on the to-do list of many Boston tourist. After living in Boston for so many years, I finally went on one. The amphibious vehicle (ducks) from WWII along with a hilariously funny and outgoing tour guide takes you through the historical parts, modern parts, sport parts of the heart of Boston. The 90 minute tour is like a live crush course in Boston history taking place on the streets of Boston. Beautiful view of the Cambridge and Boston skylines on the Charles river when the duck decides to take a dive.

I'm not sure who had more fun on the Boston Duck Tour I went on: the kids, the parents or the grandparents. These amphibious vehicles (built for WWII) literally drive straight from land into the sea, so you get a tour of not only Boston's major sites within the city, but the beautiful Charles River. Totally campy, but so much fun.

One of the most memorable things to do in Boston, especially as a kid. The tours are both land vehicles and boats giving you a full experience of the city!

The original duck boat tour. Really a great way to see Boston for a first timer. Kids and adults enjoy this. The people who run the tours are awesome!

We love things that float so of course we are huge fans of these reconditioned amphibious World War II landing crafts! There is no better way to tour the city than on a Duck Boat! Hop on board at any one of the following locations: Huntington Ave. near the Prudential Center, Museum of Science, or New England Aquarium. You won't regret it!

I had seen these 'Duck Tours' in many other cities and was not quite sure what they were all about. Since Boston has a famous harbor that I was going to visit anyway... decided this was going to be my inaugural DT. It was a blast! Highly recommend. Your are on land and by sea... a crack up that still makes me laugh.

A fantastic and unique way to get oriented with the city: you'll be driven around in an amphibious vehicle, seeing some of the best and most notable sights of Boston on land and in the water. It's a memorable experience (especially for first-timers) to seamlessly sail right into the Charles River without changing vehicles.

It is very interesting to have an overview of the city. Hard on summer with kids. Our guide was very good telling the history and curiosities of Boston.

To see Boston in the tackiest way possible, do it by way of the Duck Tour. The DT will show you Boston by way of both boat and by way of car, as the vehicle you are in is amphibious.

Boston Duck Tours is Boston's original and world famous land and water tour. During this fully narrated tour on one of Boston Duck Tour's amphibious vehicles, you will pass by all the sites that made Boston an important part of our nation's history. Then you will splash into the Charles River which is now, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the cleanest urban river in the nation.

One of the best ways to get a great overview of Boston is to take a tour on a duck boat! These unique amphibious vehicles not only drive through the streets downtown, they also cruise the waters of the Charles River—all on the same trip! The drivers are all very knowledgeable about local history and information, and their tours reflect their very “Boston” personalities, too. When the Boston Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 and when the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship in 2008, their victory parades featured the players cruising through the city in these very same vehicles! Tours depart from the Museum of Science (another great place to visit in Boston) and tickets can be purchased right inside, next to the Museum Gift Shop. When we took this tour a couple years ago, the driver actually let me take the wheel and steer the duck boat down part of the river!

It's quintessential Boston and a great little piece of history. Boston bought the boats that didn't make it over to Normandy in WWII and turned them into a tourist's dream. It's a rare opportunity and quite fun.

I generally avoid tourist things like the plague but on my last trip to Boston I decided to take the plunge and check out the Duck Tours. I don't know if I just got lucky with the tour guide I had but I learned so much about Boston that I didn't know and the route the tour took allowed me to see everything that I had wanted to see. I would totally do it again!

Worth a ride around. Enjoy quacking at random citizens from a boat. Good fun.

Description

A duck if by land, and a duck if by sea! Take a narrated tour of beautiful, historic Boston in one of many brightly colored "Ducks," vintage amphibious vehicles that allow your tour to venture beyond the same old confines of the streets. Tours hit many of Boston's famous downtown attractions, such as the State House and Prudential Tower, but try no to be alarmed when your duck leaves the land behind and drives you straight into the Charles River for a side of Boston you've never seen! Tours sell out quickly in the summer, and tickets range from about $20-30 depending on age.
