- Boston Harbor Hotel
This hotel is a not-so-hidden gem in the heart of all the best tourist sites in Boston. Its towering, arched structure is unmistakable from the harbor, but just because it's large doesn't mean the staff doesn't pull out all the stops for their guests. Everyone at the front desk is so welcoming and courteous, and the concierges are very knowledgeable about the area. The overall feel of the hotel is an updated version of what I would have expected a grand state room on the Titanic to feel like. Nautical charm abounds, from the classy photos of old ships on the walls to the outdoor seating overlooking the harbor at the Sea Grille restaurant. One especially unique feature I loved about this hotel is the fact that there is a $10 water taxi that takes you directly from the hotel to Logan Airport. I also loved the huge fitness room and spa area, complete with a saltwater lap pool. Luxury is everywhere you look, but it's not overwhelming or gaudy -- it's just perfectly understated elegance. Can't say enough positive things about this place!Recommended for:

Easily one of the best hotels in the city, this charming location has everything you could need. Rooms are well appointed and have fantastic views of either the harbor or the city itself. Plenty of dining options, both in the hotel itself as well as nearby. Overall a great place to stay.Recommended for:

The Boston Harbor Hotel exudes a classic New England/Bostonian charm that you just can't get anywhere else. I loved the nautical theme to the place and the views are some of the best in the city. In fact, the hardest decision you'll likely have to make here is whether to take the harbor view or the city view, as both are equally impressive. I also love a hotel with some outdoor space, and the BHH certainly doesn't disappoint in this respect. It's located right on the Harborwalk, a network of ocean-side pathways leading along the city's edge from Charlestown to South Boston. And if you stay during the summer, the Sea Grill, the hotel restaurant, hosts a summer concert series of live music.Recommended for:

The harbor view rooms are very nice and allow you to take in the entire waterfront, not just the canal. The architecture of the hotel itself is worth at least a few pictures, both outside and in. Everything feels wonderfully stately and old-fashioned, from the wooden dressers to the paintings on the walls. There’s a floating stage that has live bands and even movies that you can watch from your room or down by the water. The bellhops and other staff members are all polite, knowledgeable and happy to chat. It also sports one of the better hotel health clubs I’ve seen, a lengthy complex in the basement with a huge exercise room, pool, steam rooms and Jacuzzi. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this property. If you can get past the relatively hefty price tag, there’s a lot of luxury to spare, but even if you’re on a budget you can find much to enjoy (Wi-Fi is complimentary and entrees at the Sea Grille are reasonably priced).Recommended for:

The Boston Harbor Hotel might have everything you’re looking for in a hotel. I was thoroughly impressed by the staff at the hotel, and they may very well be the best part of the hotel. But the hotel has a lot more to it than its staff. If you manage to score a room overlooking the harbor, you’re in luck as that might be the best view of any hotel in the city. But even rooms facing away from the harbor have a good view of the Financial District. The rooms themselves are impressive in size and have some lovely furniture, including some old school desks. We were told room service, including alcohol, is always available. Underneath the lobby lies the hotel’s pool and gym, and both look great. There’s also both a steam room (which was quite steamy) and sauna available. And during the summer the hotel sets up a floating stage for concerts on the water.
