Marriott Copley Place did not deliver to my full expectations of the quality Marriott offers. The hotel seemed outdated, but it has the potential to be a JW Marriott (more prestigious sibling of the Marriott International brand) . The lobby gives a nice greeting, the restaurant provides a good meal and relaxation, but the rooms look like a reflection of Marriott's vision in the 1990s: minimal customization but good comfort.

This Marriot may be a little lacking in personality but it’s not bad for a chain and conveniently located. You will deeply appreciate the walkway between this hotel and the Prudential center, especially if you come in winter. The facilities are mostly of a slightly-above average size, from the gym to the in-house restaurant/sports bar to the rooms (bathrooms are another story, unfortunately: space is pretty tight). The gym in particular struck me as spacious, especially the indoor pool area. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t smaller touches: the Keurig coffee machines in the rooms, for example, are much appreciated. The floor that contains the restaurant, Champions, is an open area with lots of chairs for lounging. It’s a huge hotel, too, with lots of rooms and should be more than adequate for business trips or formal visits.

Interesting fact about the Copley Marriot, it should be called the Prudential Marriott as it’s attached via skywalk to the Prudential Center and is about a block from Copley Square. The hotel is over 30 stories tall, and the view from the top is amazing, even if it snowed when I was there, because you almost feel like a giant looking down on other, pricier hotels. The hotel has more going for it than its height. Champs, the sports bar on the second floor is both a great place to catch a game and also has some private dining areas for events. The pool is 5.5 feet deep, which is more than most hotels, and the adjoining fitness area is of decent size (but it’s hard not to notice the smell of chlorine). There were a couple things I didn’t like though. First, the key system is confusing and it took me a few tries before I could get into my room. Second, the bathroom is both on the small side and has French doors, neither of which I care much for.

This hotel definitely benefited from its location because it is in such a nice area. The hotel's design was in line with every other Marriott property with its signature red tones. The lounge and lobby were sophisticated and appropriate for Boston. We stayed here during the 4th of July and it made getting to all the restaurants and 4th of July festivities really easy.

I've only been here for a conference but the catering, conference rooms and general location are pretty spectacular. I've heard great reviews of the rooms from my co-workers from out of town. Don't come here if you are looking for charm or a spectacular view... But for a business trip, it's perfect!

This hotel is prime property. I mean if you come here to Boston to take advantage of the NO TAX for food and retail under $200, this is the place to be. No matter what time of day, it seems to be always happening with tourists, shoppers, lost tourists and more shoppers. The hotel restaurant is teeming with folks who don't want to downgrade to the mall food court and the staff is always on hand and ready to give you a quick pointer to where you want to go, be it your room or the nearest Louis Vuitton.
I really like the connections that the Copley place hotels such as the Marriott had made since walking outside when its winter in Boston is not exactly pleasant. When you can get to 4 different mall areas and plenty of close by eateries while still remaining in arms reach of Newbury st, what else do you need?
Beware though, Copley place hotels know when it's peak season, so your rates can vary dramatically, but for the most part you can find deals with free wi-fi which these days seem almost a necessity even when traveling for leisure.
