What I loved most about the gardens would have to be their location! The gardens themselves were beautiful but what really made them memorable was the cable car ride up to them! And at the top you can look out over the entire city! Wonderful experience!

Famous because of the red cable car that whisks you up the mountain to visit, these beautiful gardens are right in the middle of the city and a great way to get some green into your summer's day.

Once you get to the top of the Cable Car go for a wander in the garden. Great views of the city and beautiful manicured gardens.

We did not have a lot of time to spend in Botanic Gardens but did get a chance to enjoy a lovely walk in a beautiful setting.

Description

Explore 25 hectares of colorful floral displays, native forest, specialized plant collections, conifers and views over the city of Wellington. You can enjoy the main garden with its several seasonal beds and major plant collections. This garden is best seen during the spring when 25,000 tulips are in bloom. There is also a must-see award winning rose garden with many different varieties of roses. If tropical plants are something you enjoy, you should visit the Begonia House. Along with these specialized gardens, there is also a cafe, a children's play area and public art displayed throughout the area.
