These verdant botanical gardens are home to more than 6000 plant species, and provide a fine intro to the rich flora of Rio and Brazil. Planted back in the early 1800s, the gardens have scenic paths that wind through towering royal palms, past Amazonian flora, gurgling fountains, an orchid conservatory and a scenic lake. There are also abundant bird species — more than 100 at last count. Come during the week, and you'll have the gardens largely to yourself; while weekends bring local families and a festive air.

Unmissable! Walk through the forest green and has encounters with monkeys, toucans and other birds in our beautiful wildlife. If you get hungry, stop at the cafeteria that exists within the park and enjoy a snack in exellent atmosphere around centennial trees. The park entrance 200 meters from this property! Do not miss!

It is amazing to see how different plant life is compared to where I'm from. It is relaxing and soothing to walk around this place, I'd say it is a great place to go for a couple traveling. If plants don't interest you at all, go for the scenery and fresh air.

I went to this place when I was a kid and I loved. I remember that my mom wanted to go there just to see the Vitória Régia plants which is quite beautiful and I got amazed by all the trees and the peace of mind that this place bring to you. Nice memories...

This ecological treasure is a green 'tropical carpet' that covers 137 hectares in the middle of the bustling Rio de Janeiro. Its paths are plenty and ideal for a stroll as it allows visitors to admire the bronze statues, monkeys, canopies and bamboo trees, beds of roses and orchids set alongside.
