I believe this is one of the best french macarons I had outside of Paris. Can't beat Laduree or Fauchon but Bounchon macarons are a class of its own. It is big but the thickness to size ratio is perfect. The shell is crispy and chewy. I think I ran out of words to describe how good they were.
Tried chocolate and pistachio ones and they were both very rich in flavor with delicious creamy filling. After my second cookie I almost wanted to grab one of each of their remaining flavors and finish them all on the spot. If only dinner reservation wasn't in an hour. Coffee is pretty average. Can't say I would recommend it.
Bounchon has a store in Napa. Now I have a reason to make a trip over there.Recommended for:

I was extremely stoked to try out this place since Thomas Keller has such a strong reputation that I had to give this place a try in lieu of being able to get reservations at his sought out restaurants Per Se and French Laundry. I have to say that I was extremely disappointed. The decor reminded me of starbucks and the $9 Caprese sandwich was far from impressive. I did like the crunchiness of the bread they used, but other than that there was no flavor at all. I also opted for a chocolate chip cookie that tasted just like a store bought cookie from a local super market. The only redeeming quality about this place are the macaroons which are amazing. They are light and airy and the filling is creamy and delicious. I recommend the pistachio, but dont waste your time with the other menu options.

Located on the third floor of the Time Warner Center, this spot is owned by Thomas Keller, the celebrity chef. Modeled on pastry shops in Paris, the seated dining area has a wonderful menu—try the tomato soup and grilled cheese if you can forgive the calories—but if you’re in a rush, you can always grab a sandwich at the take-out counter. If you have the time, take your meal out to Central Park, right across the street.

Whenever I'm in New York, I love stopping by Bouchon Bakery in Columbus Circle. They have delicious yummy coffee and desserts. But it is also a nice lunch stop if you're in the mood for a grilled sandwich and fresh salad.
