Claiming to be 'boutique on a budget', this place offers new, spotless dorms, doubles, and larger family-style rooms with private en-suites. Everything's shiny and spanking new, from the large communal kitchen for self-caterers to the lounge and rooftop patio, though the real reason to stay here is its location, right across the street from Central Station and therefore convenient to just about everywhere in the city. Wifi is affordable (though not free -- boo!), and the staff run regular outings and social events, both into the city and at the hostel itself. The polished and glossy lobby and cool murals in the stairwell set it apart as a budget place where aesthetics matter.

At first glance Bounce hostel appears to be another typical backpackers hub. Young and enthusiastic staff circle the lobby. Modern and colourful street art circle the stairwell. However, this place is quite clearly a cut above your average youth hostel. Communal areas such as the huge well-equppied rooftop kitchen (complete with adjoining million-dollar-view terrace), and bathrooms are spotless, modern and odor-free. Alongside wi-fi connection there are ample computer and Internet stations (wi-fi and internet are charged) and the movie room is inviting and cushy. There are the obligatory dorm rooms; and BBQ nights and organised pub-crawls are on the ready. What distinguishes Bounce from other budget accommodations though is that it also caters for more ‘sophisticated’ and private guests. There are double and family rooms complete with ensuites, not to mention cheese & wine nights. Like me, if you’re inclined to spend less time in and more time out, you’ll also love that Bounce is directly across the road from Central Station!
