Usually when I see the "eco-friendly" label on a hotel that either means bare basics or extremely expensive. I was thrilled that this hotel was neither!
Very space efficient. We had a twin room and the beds were head to head so no awkward rolling on your friend. Well-appointed design elements, everything looked new and clean. TV with several good international channels. We had a room overlooking the rooftop lavender field and it was nice and quiet.
The eco-friendly air-circulation system didn't quite work for us during our hot and humid stay. We couldn't figure out how to use the air conditioning and so it was hot at night. Also the bathroom is configured oddly and thankfully we were good enough friends to not worry about privacy but it's definitely more for couples and families (glazed glass doors and no private dressing area except behind a fairly sheer curtain)
Free wifi--good strength
Computers in the lobby--saw plenty of others using them
Luggage storage--secure and easy
Wide selection of meats, cheeses, egg dishes, yogurt, fruit, breads and sandwich spreads. Tea, juice and coffee as well. We ate in the lovely garden area but you can also dine in their dinning area.
Come early. Although the food never ran out, the selection got smaller.
Three blocks from the Westbahnhof and less than a block from a major tram stop that takes you into the center of town. It was quiet, good for making train connections, but not walkable to the center (if that is a must, for us it wasn't)
Overall, really nice hotel and I will definitely be staying there again.

I really like the concept of this hotel. I try to have an eco- friendly lifestyle, so this hotel was a good choice. I haven't come across any hotel yet, which is producing its own electricity or is using rain water for the toilet flush. On the other hand it is a modern city hotel like many others, with its pros and cons. Small rooms, small bathrooms, friendly service, good breakfast, great location. It is easy to reach some main shopping areas in walking distance, such as the new railway station and shopping center: Westbahnhof City or the Mariahilfer road. There are also some nice restaurants in the area. I would stay again there, but not longer than for a few days.

I would say finally an hotel that really cares about environment and with reason they claim to be the 1st urban zero-energy-balance-hotel. Here's the thing: when you flush the toilet it's collected rain water; Lavender and roses cover the green roof for natural AC; They do their own composting, prevention and separation of waste and you get complimentary Melissa juice from the garden. What else? Arrive by bike or train and a green bonus of 10% off your bill is granted. Of course that reflects on the rest. The rooms are nice designed and comfortable and yes bathrooms are a bit on the "open" side so privacy could be an issue... or more fun :) The breakfast, included in the room rate, is mostly organic, the rest is local which is preferred over long distance organic food. Thumbs up!
