Branson is a beautiful town, with a very unique downtown. If you visit Branson, make sure you take the time to walk the old downtown area. I was there in 2012, right after the tornado had come through, and looking at all the damage, it was very sad and depressing.

It's the country-and-western, proud-to-be-a-redneck vacation capital of Missouri and quite possibly the whole Midwest. Tons of family fun all around, including the Silver Dollar City amusement park and mountain lakes with beaches you can go swimming at. And of course, there are plenty of places to hear live music at night.Recommended for:

Down there every week buying old cars. They have some of the best shows this side of Nashville. They have something else that you do not want to miss. That is Silver Dollar City. I would recommend that you get a motel close to the shows and walk. You have to drive out to Silver Dollar City, but the traffic isn't that bad. Also, enjoy the two lakes surrounding Branson. Beautiful place for a tourist trap, but I still love it down there every time I go.
