First of all, I love this part of Santa Monica. When we lived here, we spent a lot of time in this neighborhood - off the tourist path, lots of interesting places.
This place is tucked away, so you would probably not just stumble upon it the menu was small but each item on it looked delicious. And in fact, everything we ordered was delicious.
If you take your kids, as we did, prepare to be the only ones with kids in there. Also, the portions are enormous, so come hungry!Recommended for:

This is one of my favorite places in Santa Monica! Come for brunch! While their food menu for brunch is limited they do have $15 unlimited mimosas. I would recommend the french toast there, it is really good! Also it is a University of Michigan bar so Saturdays during the fall they'll have Michigan football games on so if you come early enough and it is a good opponent, this place is really fun to be in.Recommended for:

This place epitomizes the great gastropubs that are sprouting up everywhere. The food here is better than many restaurants I've been to because they concentrate on only a few items. I got their signature burger and it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Stacked high with a thick patty that is perfectly cooked and succulent and juicy. The environment is lively and non, pretentious and the waitresses are very friendly.
