Brisbane, Australia’s third largest city and the capital of Queensland, was settled as a penal colony in the 19th Century, and today more and more people are relocating here due to its affordability and tropical climate. “Brissie” is full of interesting districts like the CBD, mixing historical sites and world-class shopping, and the South Bank, full of edgy cafes and restaurants. While it has faced severe droughts in recent years, necessitating the 4 minute shower, the water supply has bounced back to less dire levels. It also boasts an influential music scene, recognized by American company Billboard, and hosted at various bars like the Hi-Fi. Laid back yet cosmopolitan, approachable yet sophisticated, Brisbane is one of Australia’s gems.

Brisbane has a great array of "cultures". I stayed in West end, which is a great little hippy suburb, with houses on stilts, hippy boutiques, and lovely people, all shared a common interest.

I went for a walk to the art museum, and only wish I could've had more timr to wonder around the free attraction, as well as the museum next door. Such an impressive place.

Fantastic city and I don't like cities. A great place to eat is a pub/restaurant called the Caxton. Kilo steak and the staff are awesome. Food really good. Check out the public pool on the south side of the bridge, really cool. made out to be a beach over looking the river.

This is the capital of Queensland and the second major city I ever went to when I came to Australia in 2001 for a visit.

Great central point to explore the south east area of Queensland. In the south you have the Gold Coast and its beaches and theme parks, to the west the rural area's around Toowoomba with wineries and farmstays, and in the north the Sunshine Coast with Australia Zoo and Noosa (very upmarket eateries and shops ... great spot to while away an afternoon!)

It's been awhile since I was in Brisbane 2000 but I know at the time I loved it as we went to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise to go to 2 of the 4 amusement parks and had a great time even though our day at the second was in rain great fun everyone should go there!

Its my 2nd favourite city (Sydneyite born) but I love the city itself, I have lived in and around it for years. Worked here and day tripped it when on holidays and returned three times this time I AM NOT MOVING lol. I love the shopping, the galleries, the river walk I could walk from home to the city centre, the bus terminals and train terminals are far superior to anything that I have come across. The Myer Centre is the main bus terminas and you can catch a bus from there to far reaching places. Roma Street is the main train station and its set out is fantastic, taxi ranks, food courts, hotel and gaming all on the outside of the station very hard to get lost but easy to get the wrong train ...
