As an artsy kid growing up just outside of New York City I was and still am a huge Broadway fan! And yes, I love musical theater! Believe me I know it's not for everyone but if you are in NYC you should really give the theater a go if you are even the slightest bit inclined.

Broadway is one of my favorite places in New York. Being a musical enthusiast, Broadway shows are a must-see. Each musical has their own designated theater. I've been to Mama Mia, Chicago and Phantom of the Opera, each one excellent in their own way.

Great long strip of lots of little theatres which was unexpected - I had envisioned huge theatres. Leave plenty of time to get to your show. Traffic gets really log jammed round here and we nearly didn't make it. Saw The Book of Mormon which is highly, highly recommended. One of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

Book of Mormon! Smaller than I thought, so still afforded pretty good views. Fan of Broadways so it gets points for me finally getting to watch a musical with the original cast!

Every show I've seen here completely blew me away! However, there are also great shows off Broadway, so don't stop here!

I saw Phantom of the Opera here - and though we sat at the top of the theater against the back wall, it was a hair-raising performance and an unforgettable experience. Theater lovers will thrive here.

TKTS is your best bet for discount tickets, but you can get an even better deal if you know exactly what show you want to see. Some shows have a lottery before each show. You go the theater a few hours before the show, put down your name, and if your name gets drawn, you get up to two tickets for around $20-30 (depending on the show). And usually, they're great seats!
The Book of Mormon - which is the most popular show right now and possibly sold out for the next couple of weeks - arrive 2.5 hours before a performance and join the lottery. If you win, you can get up to 2 tix for $32 each.
Wicked - a perennial classic! A feel-good story with catchy songs that you'll be singing long after you see the show. Arrive at the theater 2.5 hrs early, enter the lottery, and if you win, you get up to 2 FRONT-ROW tickets at $26.50 each. A sweet deal indeed.

Broadway show!!! However, I know it's very expensive to see any Broadway shows, but here's the trick. Most of the popular shows run a lottery a couple hours earlier than the first show. Simply you can write your name down and put it in the box. An hour before the show they pick a certain number of winners, and they can purchase two tickets for $25~$40 each. Good deal, and fun process!

Here's a capture of a Manhattan's stretch of Broadway, the heart of the American theatre industry. Home to the best, world-renowned Broadway shows and amazing shopping, it's a must see for a trip to New York. The name Broadway is the English literal translation of the Dutch name, Breede weg. This shot was taken from Korea Town, 39th floor.
