Came here strictly for the food. It's pretty much every man/woman for themselves when the kitchen opens. Prepare to wait a bit since there are only a few people working on everyone's orders. Definitely worth it. Although, I was a bit bummed that they no longer have Duck Confit Potato Skins on their menu, their Lobster Mac & Cheese was awesome. Also split an order of Sweet Potato Tots and snuck in a few bites of their Crawfish Grits that my friend ordered. The S'more Sundae brought on a pheNOMenal ending to our meal. The place may not be fancy schmancy, but it delivers in terms of their food quality. Anything with the Triple D approval is worth trying at least once.

As if whiskey on tap, friendly service and a large space weren't enough, this bar also serves some of the best food around. Their sweet potato tater tots are to-die-for, and the tofu sandwich always leaves me wanting more (even though I'm full).

If you live in San Francisco and can't make it this far into the Mission, visit their newer beer bar in North Beach - Church Key. There was even a rumor that they'd start having food there too...

Yes, this place looks uber sketch from the outside. Even the front bar/game area was sketch. The magic is in the back room ;) Pass the hallway and you enter heavenly bliss.

Food menu is posted on the wall. My friends recommended the beef and bacon burger. It is beef mixed with fatty good 'ol bacon. Concept is like Slaters 50/50 in So-Cal. I PREFER Broken Record's version WAYYYYY better. So juicy. So flavorful. SO HEAVENLY! Bun is like UMAMI in LA - brioche like, buttery, delicious!

Sweet potato fries and Parmesan fries were yummy. Loved the sauces paired with them.

Portabello mushroom burger is great for vegetarians. It was delish and the balsamic aioli was on point!

Menu changes with the wind so I will definitely be frequenting this place when I am back in SF.

Broken Record has a great kitchen at the back. The menu is always changing. This time I tried their Pork Wings. I had originally wanted some Mac n' Cheese, but they were unfortunately out. Even though this was just an appetizer, it filled me up.

If you're looking for a bar completely devoid of pretense or attitude, in the least-hip neighborhood, look no further.

The Broken Record serves up a plate of just-right..countless selection of hard liquor and beers on tap, and a gourmet kitchen in the back serving up plates of bacon-topped mac'n'cheese or a pulled pork sandwhich, both $6 each. They also have an outdoor patio for congregating when the infamous San Francisco wind is not-so-bracing.

Broken Record is near and dear to my heart. I remember it back in its early years. They've done quite a bit since day one. The food that comes out of that kitchen has been phenomenal. It went from a range of sausages to fancy pants bar food that's difficult NOT to order - hello lobster mac n cheese!

Hipster dive that serves gourmet greasy food. Yup, if it is gourmet in a dive, hipster dive it is. The food at Broken Record is actually quite well executed and served in a very lively bar atmosphere indoors and relaxing outdoor patio. The drinks great and good valued. With darts and pool table available, the place is fun too.

If an unpretentious bar with an amazing selection of whiskies and a top notch kitchen is the place for you, go no further than the Broken Record. I almost hate writing a review since I don't want this place to get any more packed than it is right now. (The Diner, Drive-Ins, and Dives episode helped contribute to the lines in the kitchen.) Sure, the place looks a little rough around the edges but the food will blind you to everything besides the amazing flavors that come out of this 3 person kitchen. [Crawfish with Bacon Grits, Bacon Hamburgers (Bacon ground into the hamburger meat), Fried Buttermilk Chicken Wings...no piddly little frozen wings, more to come]
