The Marriott Hotel has been a favourite of American tourists for years. Boasting that every room has a view of the river, it is certainly true that the views across the Danube up to the Castle in Buda are breathtaking, especially in the evening. It is also lucky that visitors are looking out rather than in as the Marriott building is considered a bit of an eyesore. The rooms offer a simple cleanliness and a welcome refuge from the rest of the hotel as the lobby often resembles a busy airport terminal with so many people coming and going. Luckily the outdoor terrace faces the river and allows one to escape the boisterous interior during the summer months and lose oneself as the Danube slowly passes the Castle. The hotel caters to large tour groups so the more adventurous travellers may chose to venture a little deeper into the center of Pest to enjoy a more authentic Budapest experience. In fact, if you are willing to forego the view I would recommend the recently built Marriott Courtyard in Central Pest as a desirable alternative.

The views from the rooms in this hotel can compete with those from The Four Seasons Gresham Palace, and that seems to go for every room, which is a claim I don’t think they can actually make over at the palace. The hotel’s 1969 built exterior and some of the common areas do feel more dated than historic perhaps, but then again that whole communist cement look seems due for its retro hip moment, any day now. This was one of a few luxury hotels open back in socialist days, so they have had time to work on getting things like customer service and guest amenities up to a high standard. For a higher end of mid range hotel, you could certainly do a lot worse than the Marriot. Practically all the major tourist attractions are either in walking distance or easily accessible by cab or public transport.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers

The Budapest Marriott is the only hotel in Budapest where every room has a Danube view and you do not have to pay extra for it! The hotel was recently remodeled so it is brand new with bright, crisp colors throughout. The restaurants are not only worth a visit for the food but also the location. The restaurant, and during the summer a large terrace, is on the riverbank with fabulous view.
Furnishing is elegant, dark wood, sitting area in front of wall-to-wall window, and coffee service set up in the room. The bathroom opens from a small entryway not directly from the room, which is a nice touch. There is plenty of closet space to pamper your clothes and a mirrored side bar.
The hotel also has a world-class gym and swimming pool to help you keep up with your workout while on business or vacation.Recommended for:Business Travelers

This is a nice big chain hotel in one of the best locations on the Pest side of Budapest. Right on the Danube with excellent views. Right out of the hotel and you can walk along the river with many excellent restaurants, some with music and people dancing outside of the establishment. The rooms are clean and large and the breakfast was excellent.
